I know most of it is pop-off but how does one get the little storage bin to the left of the steering wheel out?

I popped off the guage surround and the HVAC vent above the bin but I can't get the bin out.

I'm looking mount my smartphone where normal speedo's go in front of the steering wheel. (It does GPS and BT so it would be nice to see it at a glance) But it takes a mini-USB power plug on it's left so I was thinking of wiring it up through that port along with my radar detector's power wire.
