Default 08 xB BUYERS BEWARE!!!!! Update pg. 2

Sorry Mods, Didn't know where to correctly put this, please move if you need to.

I just dealt with a dealership here in Las Vegas, NV this past weekend on Saturday. They are jacking up the price on the 08 xB's. They had just got their first one in and I was talking to the dealer there to see it in person and find out some info on it. It was on their back lot to be prepped and cleaned and I asked him how much they were saleing it for. This is what shocked me. The FACTORY sticker said 21k+ because it was one of the loaded models. So when I asked him he flat out told me it was 21k+ but they were going to put it up front on the lot for 23K+ I confronted him and asked him why they were doing that and this was his response. "We are trying to get rid of our 07 xB's right now and we had to pay extra to get the 08 xB in this early. So we are just putting it up for 23k+" Wow did that ____ me off and walk away from that stealership. SO, I called mine up where I bought my tC because they are awesome people and great to work with and take care of all your needs and spoke with a Scion rep. there. Told him what happened and he was like NO! they can't do that. It's against Scion's marketing and they can lose their license permit to sell Scion's for doing that. So me being a kind and considerate being called Scion Corp. today while I was at work and told them about it. The Stealership now has a pending investigation against them I gave the guy the dealership's name, the name of the salesman I spoke to, and the color of the xB they were saleing. I feel sorry for the person that bought it though, if they sold it already. Oh, before anyone suggest it, that was a little over 2k mark up on the price, that was not from documentation, taxes, destination charge fees. I will let you guys know what I find out because whoever does the investigation is suppose to personally call me back and let me know what they found out and did. That is if the stealership doesn't come up with some b/s lie and the investigator buy it.

So to the future buyers, just please be aware, this may not be the only one doing it. And it sucks because the people that don't know anything about the brand aren't going to know about this or read this post But hopefully I can help someone out by this information.

Jeremy

I think the point was that they do not want to sell that one. Some of the good people here who work for good dealers say it is common to load up the demo so nobody will want it and so people can see some of the goodies.
My local dealer is cheap and straight forward. They just stick a sign on this type of car that says "Not for Sale".

From what I understand there first xBs were built by the dealership so that dealership built that w/ all those options at port.

I say that due to my mother picking up a bare bones Teal xB today after we had worked/waited for a dealership.

yeah.. totally against Scion's policies if they marked up the price the way they did.

and btw... there's no such as '07 xB's either.. if the salesmen said that... that's just further proof he doesn't know anything..

and further proof he should have his license revoked too... that's just stupid.

Nope, not the case here On the factory sticker it had the break down of the carpet mats, the nav system, the spoiler and like on or two other options, there were 4 total, and at the bottom of it it said 21k+ He admitted that that was how much it was but that they were going to put it on the lot for 23k+. Sorry if that confused anyone.

Thanks for the info...It's unfortunate that there are the few dealerships that make it rough on the honest ones. Also sad you didn't get a very good Salesperson. I usually give a few "Test" questions to a new Salesperson, if they don't give me a good/accurate response, I move on to another.

Yup, I know what you mean. I took a coworker down to my dealership and got some guy that was apparently not familiar with tC's. My buddy wanted to test drive one to compare it to the Civic Si and the guy told me to tell my friend everything about the car. I was like WTH! It's pretty bad when you know more about the car than the rep does, and I'm talking about key saleing points he should know...IE the STANDARD driver side knee airbag...grr he was a loser and by "Move on to another" we did :D right on over to the Honda dealership next to them, lol. My buddy liked the tC, but was too small, he's got kids so he wants 4 door. But he atleasted liked the car. Back on topic though its very unfortunate, because the ones that will fall for it won't even know, and may possibly never know.

I can say the Toyota of San Bernardino goes by pure pricing from Scion. I got an excellent price on my 2008 xB last night.
And the options are just fantastic. I have a 2005 xB and now my 2008 has EVERYTHING I thought the 2005 needed to begin with, so I am just beyond happy and in love with both my xB's.

So much for the 16,000 price tag they were quoting-----I think they all have spoilers, mats, and other stuff to jack up the price...

Default Got mine last night

I bought an 08 Box from oakbrook Scion. I used to owrk there prior to being promoted to another franchise. I paid 18195.00 Wheel(16" alloy) CF in Silver. I owned a 05 box and this is such an improvment over the 1st generation. The look is what I had hoped for in the 1st gen. I love the chopped look , This is somethingi have dreamed of.

To the person that expereinced the jacked up priced vehicle without the up pricing being noted on the window. call the regional office and lodge a complaint.

Best of luck.

On another note. If the sales rep is brand new. Cut some slack. If he /she is willing to find out the answers then stick with them. Even after 14 years with Toyota/scion being master certified and scion certified it is impossible to remember everything about all the vehicles. There are items that I would need to look up only due the fact that there are some many model configurations between the two lines.

So if you are going to bash a new sales rep, remember that when you are on a new job and someone comes in and rips you a ne wone becuase you are ne wand dont have all the answers down pat.
