To 1st gen and 2nd gen owners.
I'm about to become one.... I think. Does the first gen love fade? now that you have a choice which one to drive? My superwhite is on the way.. I'm still torn whether to keep my first gen or just trade it in.

great question, I would love to hear. I think most will be biased towards their new purchase, just as non-08 owners will be biased towards what they own. Nature of the beast.
However, I am in the market for *something* and I'm starting to think maybe about just getting a 1st gen xb instead of the 2nd gen.
Count me in for the feedback too...can't wait to hear!

I agree, the opinions will be biased. Those that are holding tight to gen 1 will stay loyal (for a while) Gen 2 is a great improvement to the first gen. Everyone has to remember ALL carmakers change up their models every few years. The gen 2 is still unique in design yet brings more affordable class. Both Gens are still awesome vehicles. Gen 1 will become a collector of sorts. This probably doesnt help you make a decision. Either way, you stay with Scion, you stay a winner.

They are two different cars, with only the name in common. Comparing the two may be fun, but it doesn't help make the decision about what car to buy.
We all need to accept that the G1 xB is a discontinued car, no longer made, and move on.

To me, the 1st gen was very unique and jumped into the market and made other people yell wtf?!?! the new xB, to me and probably me only, just seems like Scion catered to the haters and put in everything that people "complained about" on the new xB.
If i was in the market right now, i think i would lean towards xb gen 2 only because it was newer. but the gas mileage and size suck (i live in manhattan)... so i think i would opt for an 06 xB with very low miles and buy it out in cash - maybe 12k or so...

Gen 1 forever! I think your decision will come down to wether or not you have the need for two xBs. I would be nice to have both, but only if they dont stretch you wallet out too much

It's tough.....we'll see.....

Scikowife says:
Amen to that. Me being a xB1 owner, am not really biased. I like both cars. Hopefully there's a way for you to keep both. xB1 to go cruisin' like to the grocery store or something and xB2 for long trips. Or vice versa. As long as you stay happy with what you have.

Favorite xB2 feature: Single Back Up Light, Mod Options are so limitless. Makes me want to get an xB2 and Put H.I.D.'s on that bad boy.

I traded my 2006 xB for my 2008.
I'll miss my old friend... but its like growing up in school. You make friends and t.hen when the year is over... you'll never see them again.
This is to you old friend... *tear*.
Anyways.... my 2008 pretty much has everything that I wanted my 2006 to have. I just have to figure out a way to run the power cable for my nuvi 660 though the dash to behind the power plug... just a small project I'm going to have to figure out for the 08.
It was super easy for the 06.. just fed it though the dash speaker grill.

I traded in my 2004 xB for a 2006 V8 4Runner. I dont regret it although the original xB will always have a place in my heart...
I'm looking at Scion Certified Pre-Owned original xBs and turn it into a beater/daily driver. The powertrain warranty is increased up to 7yr/100K miles from the original purchase date when it was NEW. And no, gas prices is not the reason. I like my 4Runner so much that I want to keep it forever.
xB RS owners should keep their limited xBs at all cost.

I have a 06.5 xB and I always wanted one. When I found out the car was done at the end of 06 I went out and got one for two reasons gas mileage and price, I knew the 08 xB would be more money and I had a feeling a bigger motor would go along with the price, I was right. Im happy with my choice and love my first gen, but the new xB is still a great deal and is a safer car, I would not trade my 06 but I might get a new xB some day down the road. They drive great btw(200, and look good.

I had a tC. 160hp = slow and bad gas mileage. I could have waited for the xB2 but figured 160hp = slow and even worse gas mileage.
So I got a truly slow car (lol) and get great gas mileage and Im happy.
