I think it will be red or blue. we will see what happens.... I agree with you the color are boring....they should have given us super red, hot lava, yellow bright colors....

I agree the colors aren't that great, there not that bad either, just alot of more of teh same. I hoping the Teal looking color pops in the daylight. I' hoping for a ultra-plush or voilet purple

Also I think some should look at the other RS Thread.

At the Atlanta Backstage event this past Friday, the info desk told me that the inside
rumor for the xB2 RS (5?) is that it will be the gold used on the 5 axis prototype.

My wife is ready to trade her RS 3.0, and I'm betting on it coming with the 5axis body kit as well.

In another thread, the guy from 5-axis explained how they made that color, and dropped a hint by saying something to the effect of:"Because of the tinted clearcoat, the color, in it's current form, is not YET production-friendly"

I am just paraphrasing, but I assumed the first RS would be a similar color ever since I read that comment.

i'll second this...was talking with a scion regional rep at a big meet.
one of the people there was thinking about buying it and painting it the gold 5axis color...
then the rep said it was a nice color...who knows it might be used for a release series.

(the person thinking of doing this got his dreams shot down...why would he buy something, then pay to repaint it a special color, only to have scion release it later and take away the special-ness of it...)

but the bigger question...when would the release series be available??

I would assume they'd start off with release series 1.0 again. but I may be wrong.

Wait, why do you say that? I don't recall seeing green envy, hot lava, torched penny, etc on any other Toyota product...

When I was in Japan last fall, I saw a lot of paint colors that
should be offered here but aren't.

All of those colors are or were available overseas. There's about a 98% chance Toyota won't do the 5Axis orange, because the color isn't proven for the test of time.

Betting money says it the new RS will be a color that Toyota already uses elsewhere. They might have a shade that is close elsewhere, and might use it tho.

Japan is a lot more experimental with color than the US for many reasons, but chief among them is that the Japanese don't keep cars for 4+ years.

i think it's funny that THAT color isn't proven yet ALL current scion paint is of garbage quality.

Well, that didn't take as long as thought it might.

It's the clearcoat that Scion has had issues with, not the paint itself.

Is that issue resolved?

There's been no word on it, but I think a lot of the paint "issues" here have been blown out of proportion. Lot's of folks don't know that all clear coat will scratch, and that all black cars will show swirlies when not washed with care.

For the record, I've seen loads of Scions come in as trades, and I haven't noticed any paint issues with them.
