Default 2008 Scion xB Concept Specs & Details

I just got back from the Miami Event.

Short story:

Scion takes care of their people, Rainn Wilson and Ludacris were there.

Anyway,

The 2008 xB is wider,

It looks a LOT like the T2B

It has Projectors.

It has rear door speakers,

EDIT - the 2008 xB has an engine which is larger than the 1.5. It's either a 1.8 or a 2.4. It was tough to tell at the event.

5 Axis bodykit available.

No window between C and D pillars, this removes the antennas currently available. There IS an antenna on the top center of the car, current xA-ish.

5 lugs, Volk rims on display.

The rear seat had a gap under it. Like a big one,. No functionality was displayed.

The car was a custom light yellow-orangey metal flakey color, and all the interior was coordinated. No word on if the color matching is standard, but it looked hot.

The gauges are still in the center of the dash, unlike the xD.

The shifter is very much like the Element, all in the center console, kinda high.

Double Din. The head unit was from an 06. It did have steering wheel controls.

One backup lamp. It's on the drivers' side. Odd..

4 wheel disk brakes.

Awesome info!

I got worried at first that the new xB would look cooler and better than ours. Then i googled T2B, and if it looks a lot like that, I don't think there is anything to worry about.

:D

It does look cooler and better than ours. The styling cues are straight T2B, but not as, um, odd as the T2B.

Did I mention the model on display had dual exhaust?

Someone who has seen it has to have some photoshop skills. Or at least some skecthing ability. Lets see it. Unless by some small miracle one of you was able to get a couple pictures snapped.

Another styling cue: The outsides of the A-pillars, they were covered in similar black vinyl as our door sills are on the current xB. They were cut off at the top of the windshield. I did not like this vinyl.

That line at the top of the windshield carried back to the back door windows. It did slope down, but by a very slim margin, The bottom of the side windows sloped up. It was a noticeable amount, but still gave way to the large windows we are used to.

That same line across the bottom of the windows, it starts at the hood. Specifically, in the center of it. There is a very small hump across the middle of the hood. Sounds weird, looks nice, does not stand out.

It'd be nice if they called it something besides an xB. I hope it's great, and does well, and carries on the Scion tradition (except for the tC), but the xA gets a new name, and I think the xB should too. I don't want to tell people I drive an xB and they think it's this newer one, or whatever replaces it in 3 years.

I think the t2b looks kinda cool.

The reason I bought my box was, it was the first car to have the guts to be really SQUARE. If the new one is slightly rounded like the t2b, then that's a step in the wrong direction IMHO.

Cameras: We were all electronically searched, ankles to to of head by a couple of gals with wands, required to empty our pockets before wanding and required to turn in all cameras and phones even if they were not camera phones. There were also security types stationed all over the place inside, as well as a lot of staff, all keeping a close eye on us. If anyone tried to snap a pic and were seen doing it, the camera would be confiscated, ALL pics deleted and possibly returned. The person would also be ejected.

I do know at least one phone with camera made it through, but that person took no pics. If any pics show up on ScionLife before official release, I suspect the first mod to see them will delete them - that is a part of the agreement.

A more aggressive looking, longer, lower, wider, more powerful t2b.

Tomas

I rather liked the T2b concept! However, bigger, more power, etc.. sounds more expensive. One of the great selling points of the Xb was a price point that allowed for 2-3K in mods with without the guilt (or pocket book pinch).

Sounds good to me. I like the current XBs a lot, but it was once I saw the T2B concept that I really decided a Scion might be my next vehicle. I know it will kill the low cost charm for a lot of the younger guys on here, but I actually like the fact that it sounds like it could be a touch more upscale.

My only concern is that I don't HAVE to have a powerful engine. I could be content with a somewhat smaller engine that would get better mileage.

^ if you've driven an xB on the fwy, you'd know why we need more power.

Tomas... my question to you is.... (since i've always respected your opinion on the board)

If they said to you on the spot, trade in your old xB for the new one.. would you? (i don't mean yes to be the first person to have.... but like... based on looks and styling and options...)
