Default 2008 Scion xB Release Dates

Sorry, but at this time I don't know how many units will be in my first allocation, colors or prices. I will definitely post here when I do.

Not sure how the other regions are going to do it, but in the SE region each dealer will get one for a floor model until the next one arrives several weeks later. Our regional manager has already polled us to find out which color we'd like, and my first choice is the Blackberry Crush, followed by the Hypnotic Teal one. The first one I get will be decked out fairly well, not trying to sell it you see, just want to use to have a model to show and drive and take orders on subsequent B's.

I'll post pics as soon as it gets here....sometime in late May is what I'm guessing. Once again, no hard details have been provided yet.

Since my brother just got into an accident in his 04 xb we've been talking about what happens if they total it out and cut him a check. We're wondering how hard it would be to find a first gen body style (in this case black manual trans no add ons like the one he had) or is he gonna fall into a grey area with trying to find an 08.Will the fact we're in California help? and is April or may when they are rolling them out?

You're going to have a very hard time. There are 7 black stick shift 06's in the 5 state South East region right now. That's it.

You might have to make some concessions, as far as add ons go and the like. You're also going to want to HURRY up, because your bro is not likely to be the only one looking. You also might have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping or plan on a mini vacation to make this happen.

Is California considered the south east region? thats kinda what i was fearing because we had such a hard time finding one back in 04 and now that the 08 are right on the cusp of coming out the timing would have been better a month before or after April i imagine. Also i still have no clue what his insurance is gonna do, i guessed they picked it up today but i imagine if they total it right away he wouldn't have a check any time soon.Looks like I'm gonna have to break the bad news.

The SE region is Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and we are the number one Scion region and have been for 37 consecutive months, which means we get more scions than any other region.

The best thing he can do is start calling ASAP to find a friendly dealer such as myself. Check the regional boards of your area for good dealers, and start calling. Put the $500 deposit down to secure it, and pay whatever it costs to have it shipped or to driven to whereever you are.

Thanks for the info, Kevin.

Fiero: the select few who continue to drag legitimate topics like this one off topic will be dealt with. I'm getting pretty tired of it.

Thanks Max, though I apologize as my reply post was off topic as well. I just snapped; the persistent few are really killing this whole next-gen forum. Thanks for the help!

BTW, everyone, the dealer called me back today and said he will be getting the first few on the lot in early-mid May, per e-mail from Scion corporate.

05 Black Cherry = 07 Black Cherry. What do you mean by the color is garbage?

Just my 2 cents....

I was the biggest fan of the new xB. But as of late i have lost interest. Notice i said WAS the biggest fan. Im not so much turned off by the car itself, just that the release date keeps getting pushed back further and further. I actually went back to my dealership and applied to get my $500 deposit back cause im so tired of waiting.

This is what im hearing, and its from reliable sources....

I was first told last August to expect the release of the new B some time in late March of this year. I was one of the lucky ones who attended the Release Party in Miami in December. I was the biggest fan there. I even went head to head with people like Tom and SuperDave over the car i was so nuts about. At that event i learned that the release for the NorthEast was now slated for mid April.

Early April comes and now its being pushed back until mid May. It was at that point i realized that i was not going to be able to get my hands on what i wanted, have it totally repainted and interior done in time for any events this year. It then donned on me that i can keep my 1st gen box ( paid for ) as a daily and buy a new Scion next spring.

When i asked for my deposit back last Friday, i then learned that the dealerships here in the NorthEast would only be allocated one xB .... yep thats right ... ONE! Its not a track car, so i could be sold as soon as it hits the port. What are the chances that a 5 speed in any color would be that one? Slim to none. Then i learned that not all the after market goodies would be availble either. Things like the lip kit .. the dual exhaust ... and some others that i cant mention will not be availible until later this year, possibly not until mid to late fall!

IMO Scion dropped the ball with the release of the new xB. Considering that you cant get all the options that were shown in Miami until almost a year later. But on a lighter note, this gives me more time to buy a xB ... xD or possibly a FUSE ( did i say that out loud ? ) lmao.

Ok, Scion has said again and again that the 5-axis kit will be avail at launch. Although they have not announced pricing yet, I never heard that it or the TRD exhaust would be delayed.

On the subject of exhaust, the system shown on the modded show car was custom, I do not believe that is the sport exhaust that will be availible. I am pretty sure the sport exhaust will be a single outlet and once again, I have not heard anything about it being delayed. All I heard is that 30 of 40 accessories will be availible at launch and the others will be availible soon after.

On the subject of the number of cars, of course they will be limited in the beginning. I worked as an automotive engineer, and I can tell you that all production start-ups are ramped, you don't crank out 6000 cars the first day. You do a run of 20, then a run of 50, then 75, etc etc. So yeah, the first boatload is slim, but should be arriving in ~3 weeks or less (some dealerships claimed first delivery May 10th, I am sure some Cali dealers may be sooner). My dealer is getting one on the 21st. I will be there to test drive it that day, and I will order my car that day or before (dealer said I could order what I wanted, no deposit, etc, since they feel it will sell if I pass no prob.)

You have waited almost 3/4ths of a year, and you really can't wait another few weeks? It isn't like Scion is screwing up or doing it to mess with you, they want the cars to be right. I would much rather wait even another 2 months for a car I knew was going to be perfect than get a Chev-ified Scion. Be patient, aparently this new xB is worth the wait.

As per Mark Templin ... the new dual exhaust by Mangaflo would be put into production. And yes, the body kit will not be availble upon the first released.

As far as waiting .. i dont know .. im just fed up with being told one thing, and then in a short amount of time being told another. Everything happens for a reason, and right now something is telling me to just wait.

Bigfieroman - I bought my tC at Day Toyota back in 04..... they didn't know crap about the tC when so I'm not surprised at what they told you about the new xB. I'll be at the Pittsburgh backstage event, too. Hopefully you'll have your xB by then.
