Airbag indicator issues
Sorry if there is a thread out there for this. I searched but couldn't find anything within reasonable time period. I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I have a xB2 purchased at the tail end of October. Two days ago someone got out of my passengers seat and I started to drive, but the passenger seatbelt light kept blinking and beeping and the passenger airbag light stayed on. After a little while, like 1 mile down the road, the beeping stopped, but then no lights showed (normally the Airbag off light should be on). Now what happens is that for two seconds the off light comes on and then it goes off and nothing shows up if no one is sitting there. I don't so much care about the light but I was wondering if anyone experienced this as I want to make sure the airbag is actually off and won't deploy if no one is in that seat. Sorry for the long part for the story. Any advice?
Hmm that's strange that it made the beeping noise (for the passenger seatbelt) after your passenger got out of the seat--
If the seat is unoccupied, then the AIR BAG ON and AIR BAG OFF indicator lights will Not be illuminated- this means that the front passenger airbag and side airbag on the front passenger seat are deactivated, the curtain shield airbag in the front passenger side is activated and the front passenger seat belt pretensioner is deactivated.
(per owner's manual page 58 under "Condition and operation in the front passenger occupant classification system"
hopefully that helps a bit

Bought mine 1st of oct and I have had this happen like once or twice. Hasn't really done it in awhile so I'm not too worried about it to take it to the dealer. The person got out and I drove off and then it started beeping and beeping until it finally stopped. I can't remember if the light kept going off because I parked immediately to run errands.
Yep, happened to me too.
I too thought that it was that I had too many, shall we say, "full-figured" or "zaftig" people sitting in the passenger seat...
However, it does not happen all the time, and actually has not happened to me in a while, so I am safe on that for now I guess.
Sadly, I have other issues, like the power steering cutting out on me.
We'll see what happens...
