any1 else have this problem when ppl look at your car?
ever since I got into the car scene and started modifying my cars, no matter how clean the car is, when people first see my car they say something negative, or something wrong with the car that is completely obvious,
has anyone else ever have someone do this to them? or am i alone on this?
example; i had a del sol, fully built engine, cf hood; very clean car, not riced out in any way. but when people look at it the first thing they say is "you know you have a dent on your fender?" or "your cf hood isn't lined up correctly"
another example; i bought a hail damaged civic, with a fully built turbo engine, for a very low price. I pulled into Subway, popped the hood to check the oil, then some teens come over look at the engine then say "you know your car has hail damage"
FYI - no longer a honda owner, just bought a XB2 last week, and freakn love it.

when people said stuff like that, i always commented back with a smart a$$ remark. when the teens remarked about the hail damage, i said that i didnt see the hail damage because i have astigmatism.... they thought i was serious,.. idiots.
when people commented on the dents, i replied on numerous occasions by saying "the dent is fixable, unlike your girls ugly face"

It is a jealousy thing. I used to get a lot of crap like that when I drove a 5.0 Mustang. Ususally the from Chevy guys, but Ford and Dodge guys equally as guilty.
I recall when I got my first job after high school, I had a 1970 Chevy 1/2 pick up, that I worked a ground up restore on, shoe horned with a 396 big block turning nearly 500HP, and the day I got it back from the paint shop, one of my good friends at the time had nothing nice to say about it, since it was not a Ford, and he thought the color was crap, and said I should have done this, should have done that....etc. The f'king truck rocked, would run a 12 second quater mile. I wish I had kept it.
Love what you drive, does not matter what others think!

the only time that i got any hate for my car was when i still had my stock exhaust. i backed into it right after i got the car so it just started to rust and was bent. but now that i swapped it to the sexy pipes that is the TRD exhaust i havent gotten any trouble
as for the single reverse i just give them the good old "no **** sherlock"

I get most positive comments. My dad being the one most confused about that visual look of the car, haha.
Other then him, I get compliments constantly for it. Here is the best one:
I had to take a potty break at sheetz on a trip, so going into the place I hold the door open for this old lady who must of been in her seventies at least. She looked pretty grumpy and one of those mean type. ANYWAY, my girlfriend was driving and I guess the lady tapped on the glass when I was inside and complimented my xB saying how nice it was and how they are great cars, and then pointed out her xD to my girlfriend. Anyway, that wasn't expected from her, but ithat is my best story, haha.
