as long as it is a double Din size radio, it should fit. if anything, you may need to get a adapter harness, but going from scion to scion (they all use the same radios) you should be able to just plug it in and turn it on.

I am working on getting one myself. I like the RCA outs and the fact it would look stock and have all the oem controls and inputs. I will update if I find anything. I have a couple e-mails into Scion dealers

we got the upgraded stereo with our car and it is awesome. My husband was very impressed with the sub outs. I liked the fact that I can turn the sub off when I am driving since I dont like alot of bass. It sounds very clear and I love the different skins and options that come with it.

Ok, I am new to Scion, but I thought the whole point was one price, online or aftermarket... Isn't that supposed to be pure price????

My conversation with ask Scion.com

Sam H: Hi, my name is Sam H. How may I help you?
Fred: Hi Sam, I just bought an '08 XB and need some help understanding something about the concept of pure price
Sam H: No problem Fred
Fred: My XB came with the base radio and I want to upgrade to the premium, online it says it is 389, but I am getting quotes from dealers of $600. I thought the concept was the same price either way
Sam H: The Pure Price business model states that after the price has been posted, the price cannot be further negotiated and should equal your sales transaction price. However, dealers do have the right to set their own pricing. The prices you see on our website are simply the suggested retail prices recommended by the manufacturer(MSRP). Thus, to stay consistent with the Pure Price business model, the dealer sets their price, including the Delivery Process and Handling Fee, and this posted price should equal your sales transaction price. This price cannot further negotiated.
Fred: hmm, I wish I would have know that before hand. I saw the accessory listed price and figured I could just buy one for that. So how do I get one for the price listed on the Scion.com website
Sam H: The prices on our website are just the suggested price we have set. However, Scion vehicles, parts, and accessories are only available through our dealerships and dealerships are free to set their own prices.
Fred: ok, thanks. Is there anyway to make this known to the higher ups that this is an issue?
Fred: I am on a Scion forum and there are a number of us asking this question
Sam H: I apologize Fred, dealerships are independently owned and operated
franchises and legally they do have the right to set their own prices.

so if you dont add it at the time you buy the car, they can sell it at any price they wnat. That kinda sucks.

I guess the pure pricing only includes the vehicle itself, not the accessories after the fact.

I am guessing the problem is not just the dealers, but Scion themselves. Why would they charge over $600 if their cost was supposed to be less than the $389 price

Honestly, I wish there was a way to complain to Scion about this

It's always been like this for the radios. The Scions are shipped from Japan sans H/U, and the port of entry installs the H/U. For a dealer to install the H/U, they have to go in and undo the work, and then redo everything...without killing your interior. Thus, it costs more.

Body kits and wheel/tire combos will also have different DIO (dealer installed) and PIO (port installed) prices as well, for similar, tho not exactly the same, reasons.

I did not know that. Our first Scion we actually bought through Carmax, because Toyota lowballed us on the Corolla trade in.

Which is why you'll pay the replacement cost, which is more, and another reason why it costs more to have it done at the delaer.

Your best bet is to wait until somebody is ready to get rid of theirs, and pick it up from them. It might even be a good idea to contact a couple of your local Scion Champions, because you might be able to work something out with one of their customers.

Scion Champs = the Scion managers at the dealers, just different terminolgy.

You might also want to inquire about part only pricing when you're calling, but you have to ask them how much it is w/o the labor. All of the Scion accy pricing includes labor, and that's how they are quoted.

Id wait for TRD Sparks to have the HU, They will be at the lowest price possible from toyota direct basically. Now you could find cheaper prices online sure, but if you want to be sure its a good part unused, you'd want it from them.

( its not at that page yet, but that is where it would show up )
