ATTENTION Release 6 owners !
I posted a brief question about this in I.C.E. , but I'll try it here too. The Pioneer Nav system that came standard in the Release 6 is what I'm talking about here. The model number on mine is a AVIC-F900BT . I guess this is standard in all Release sixes , but correct me if I'm wrong. The dealer asked if I wanted to add XM satellite to the radio, but I passed on it when he tried to rake me on the price. A couple of months down the road I decide to do it myself ,so I ordered all the components from TRD Sparks. I started the install, (lots of trim to remove) and got all the way to the testing part..."Plug in the harness from the XM unit to the back of the head unit". Not gonna happen, plug and socket are not compatible ! I did a little internet research, and found the spec sheet on the Head Unit from Pioneers web site. The head unit is XM ready , and requires XM Tuner Base Unit GEX-P920XM. Well I checked the box on the one from Sparks , and the label says XM Tuner Base Kit GEX-M8077XM. Sparks is being as helpful as they can, but so far they cannot find the GEX-P920 , it's not in the Toyota parts system. They are working on it, may try to find an adapter or something. So now , at last, the point of the Thread ! Have any of you other Release Six owners added the factory XM to your ride? If you did , do you still have the XM /Toyota box with the label ? I seriously need some help, the car is in pieces and the wife is gettin cranky !
Since this HU wasn't designed specifically for our car, you're probably better off just getting the XM box from Pioneer.
I'm probably going to add a Sirius receiver in mine soon.

Thanks for the repy xtylerx , but I'm not sure Pioneer even makes the XM base unit, I'm pretty sure it's a sub -contractor. , Besides, when the Scion web site, the Scion brochure, and the Release 6.0 brochure all say that Toyota can install this upgrade for you , wouldn't it make sense that if this is the only XM that will work, they would have it in there system? That's the reason for my post...out of 2500 Release 6 owners out there, I'd like to hear from the ones that said "yes mister stealership...please sell me that option, I'd like the XM radio feature installed on my new car" I don't mean to sound cranky, but picture me dropping the car off at the dealers, they tear out all the trim and the front and back passenger seat, nearly complete the install, then put it all back together, and tell me "sorry bout that, we were just kidding, we don't stock the parts to do what we advertised? This just sounds a litlle too crazy for Scion Corporate. I'm sure there is an answer out there...time and patience I guess...

xtylerx , I will take your suggestion tho , today I will play around on the Pioneer web site , see if maybe they have a help line. Maybe they can tell me a source for the base unit, or a Scion part number, or an A dapter kit.
