Default Boyd Coddington Died!

This is a great loss to the hot rod community. He created some awesome cars. If you dont know who he is look him up.

I thought I had heard something but could not verify that fact. Spped channel nor anyone else really doing or saying much right now. THis is the end of a legend in auto customization.

Wow that sucks. I loved American Hot Rod(tv show). I actually thought Duane would go first. Boyd will be missed.

Sorry to hear he died but he was not a nice person at all. He couldn't keep an employee if his life depended on it.

And what info are you basing this on? From what I can see, he seemed like a great guy. Of course all I've ever seen of him was on American Hot Rod, but when he gave employees like bluebear chance after chance to redeem themselves. I can't see him as a "not nice" person.

Anyways, I thought he was a cool guy and this is very sad indeed.

i thought he was a nice guy, he gave alot of lazy people a shot and they didnt bite then they got another shot, then that was it. he was in buisness to make money not to be a nice guy. look at the richest people in this world, they did not get there by being nice

He put money in front of his employees. He would set crazy deadlines then add stuff to the already hectic schedule and expect it to be done yesterday. I used to call him an a$$ all the time when watching that show. Every time he touched a car he would make more work for others to correct his mistakes.
He should have treated people more like Chip and Troy does. The only reason Dwayne stuck around was because he was basically a Boyd Jr. I say good riddance

Lets not forget Foose started out working for Boyd. Chip left on his own and started Foose designs ... that should say something right there.

Still its a shame hes gone. He put out some really nice work.

It was a VERY entertaining show and I thought Boyd was a jackass most of the time. He really screwed up a good thing by alienating some of his better employees like Charlie, Mike and Scott. God rest though Boyd, you are an icon.

My favorite episode was when he argued with his idiot son about some bling wheels he wanted to put on the Hershey's Elvis Cadillac. He told his son the wheels were nice but totally wrong for a 57 Caddy. So right Boyd! He was VERY talented when it came to designing Hot Rods, maye not so good at doing the work itself or giving advice on fabrication technique. He was also a big pain when it came to deadlines and last minute changes. I think his love of doing burnouts was cool too.

Roy was one of my favorite characters.
Nice work came out that shop in spite of how Boyd and Dwayne were.
Did Dwayne ever actually do any work. I only remember him shooting off his mouth.

I thought he was much older than 63. He looked like 73.
