BROKE? Already? on a 2nd gen, nothing should be breaking Yet(unless it was caused by an accident) not covered under warranty?

Yeah, WHY is it NOT covered under warranty? Unless you did something?

Only thing you can do is open your windows now.

Where did she reverse into you? If she backed into the front and busted the condenser, shouldn't insurance be paying for it?

Toyota is known for using parts in several different models. Try and find out what other cars use the same condensor and hit the junkyards. Since it's not a warranty repair just find a local mechanic to replace it and recharge your system. It'll be much cheaper all the way around.

i didnt go through insurance to fix the problem because there seemed to be no damage (this was back in december). as of now i still dont want my rates going up over some hot air.

I'm sorry to hear! I must confess that I find it hard to believe the head busted when no visible signs were showing up. Uou are pretty much screwed now for the time lapse. Like mentioned bone yard parts will have to do. The engine is used on tc'c, camry's and a few others as chadfo mentioned.

Don't dispair. open the windows and keep looking. Hope all works out.

umm Something really does not sound right. umm first off how could a parking lot incident break the condensor??? to get to the condencor i believe you have to have the vehicle hit pretty hard. you would not be able to drive the car

where exactly did you take this vehicle to to get the quote done????

how many miles you have on your vehicle as of right now??

if it was a toyota dealership try another one.

mike calvert (713) 558-8100
Don Mcgill (281) 496-2000
Sterling MCall (713) 270-3900
Gilf states Toyota (713) 580-3300
joe meyers ford toyota kia (713) 937-7800

Done know reputation. but till you call all of these and then call Scion directly. i would not say oh well i have to eat it. be a thorn in the side of the dealership. most bad ones know they can get away from doing this stuff because people let them. bring out the beast within you and do not take no not covered under warrenty as an answer.

if all these dealerships list say no. then call corp. yeah if they say no. then yeah yopu might have to bite the bullet. plus one other thing. you live in houston you might have other toyota dealership as well

no no there was minor body damage to the front end but it was replaced out of her pocket (i see youre from houston, this incident occurred in the galleria parking garage for a better idea...)

the front end was taken care of and it seemed the engine was fine. with no other body problems i just okay'd it with the lady and moved on with life. turns out i should have gotten it inspected better.

happens i suppose.

Have you tried calling the lady that hit you? Tell her that the body shop that repaired it didn't do a thorough job and overlooked internal damage. Hey, it's worth a try!

He cut the deal and she sealed that deal with payoff. I wouldn't think that you could expect her to pay any more now.
Stranger things have happened. That much money to pay, she would have been better off claiming and I wouldn't shell out any more dough after almost 6 months. IMO

I suggest you make the dealership PROVE the accident broke it. When I bought my xB, the finiance guy, brought up that particular part, as a reason to purchase the extended warranty.

Also try a different dealership, and don't tell them about the wreck.

Interesting thought, Daarken! I just ran outside to see where this assembly was and boy, if it isn't in a place where a nice springing tap to the bumper would affect it. Like a thumb waiting for a hammer smash. No doubt to my eyes, with the way impact bumpers are, that because they push in then bounce back out there would not be too much dificulty in proving an accident caused the damage IMO. And too that visible damage outside could appear a cheap fix.

Default AC busted.

I had the same thing happen on my brand new xb that I just got 2 weeks ago. Got in my car and AC wasn't working. Apparently a rock or something of the sort hit my condenser hard enough to break it. I never noticed anything while driving, although I passed through a detour road where there was some road construction and gravel pieces on the asphalt. There is a deep dent, it must have flown right through that wide open lower grille. And no the warrantee doesn't cover that, so I'll see what insurance sais, but I will probably have to caugh up the deductable. I personally think that this is a design flaw, and a grille with smaller openings is needed down there.

Who's to say that you didn't get it from the dealer like that?????? Their job is to keep their costs down, but remember, YOU"RE the customer.

Speak to the service manager, your salesman, AND the dealership supervisor.

Or you can go to another dealership and tell them you got it two weeks ago and the A/C doesn't work, please fix it.

An update to my situation - I called the scion reps and after some conversations, and me explaining my viewpoint they agreed to pay my deductable so props to them. All is good now, and I got a new grill to protect that condenser.
