Default car wont turn off!

heres the situation, i take out my keys and my car still runs! i bring it into power toyota in buena park and they tell me that its not the factory, so im going to have to pay the $300 for the diagnostics. they told me its the red wire (amp) to the battery which is causing the problem. they said when they remove the red wire, my car acts normal but the headlights wont turn on. then they came up with another explanation that it has to do with my gauge cluster and because i changed those lights it burned out a fuse causing the car to not act normal? can someone please help me because i do not have $300 to spare!

Take it to another dealer. Don't mention any of the things you've done, since they should be irrelevant... unless you REALLY screwed one of them up. Which is probably unlikely.

haha wow. what kind of mods did you do to the car?
probably a good idea to check all your fuses: inside the car and under the hood.

here's what i'm thinking...

you mentioned an amp, when they disconnect the amp power wire your car stays running.. sounds like you shorted and blew some fuses.. did you do your amp install yourself?

do this
remove your remote wire from wherever you tapped it

remove battery.. check all fuses and connections..

to me it sounds like your remote wire & power wire are shorted together somewhere creating a latching relay type of connection, you may have a blown fuse BUT if your constant wire is touching the remote, and it's hooked to an ignition source *comes on with key and goes off with key* then when your ignition turns on it TRIES to turn on your ignition sources, but they get power through the power wire from your amp because it's shorted, so when you turn the car off, it can't release the power because it's still getting it from the power wire from the amp until you disconnect that..

did you do the install yourself?

i've seen this quite a few times so that's why i figure this it the problem.. let us know!
