Wow that's interesting. Only eight major manufacturers and a few smaller companies. Man I'd love to be one of those eight right now. That's crazy there aren't more than that. If Boeing was smart they'd set up a place and make their own. Initial costs would hurt them, but in the end I'd think they would save money by making their own.

I never would've thought carbon fiber would be a hard to get material. Maybe back in the day, but not now that it's so widely used. It would be interesting to be an insider in places like Formula 1, MotoGP, etc. to see how this will effect them. Although there is major money there and they can afford any price to get it. But if it's not there to get, what the hell will they do?

Looks like I need to learn how and make Carbon Fiber. I could live like a king!

 

Been going on for about a year now or more. Prices have gone through the roof and many manufacturers are selling black fiberglass as carbon fiber as it looks similar.

 

yup, this has been going on for about 2yrs now.

 

this is indeed interesting.. I do love carbon fiber though...
