Default cargo liner...

aloha,

so I got a lot of nice advice on roof rack..now I also need a cargo liner (?) not sure if this is what it is called,...I got 144 miles on my xB now..after a surf trip to the north shore this weekend... :-)

The cargo liner is for kites, kiteboards, surfboards and other beach gear..to keep the sand from the only bad feature with the car..the carpet..I hate it. so now I need a cargo liner...I saw there is a stock nylon one...but does osmething more streardy exisit? I have been looking for a while..and Ionly find some that seems very generic....so I am unsure about how it will fit....

thx

The standard one does fit pretty well. My 80 pound Pup rides on it all the time and I have only dog hair on it. Not even a single tear from Paws and claws. The fit works well for me by hooking under the backseat headrests and clipping to the back of Fabric. Gets a little dirty where Handles are at but other than that.....

I have the factory cargo liner and it is pretty heavy duty. I have a Labrador Retriever and got it for her to be in the back. I like that it covers the top edge of the back seats, and it also has a nice big flap that folds out and covers the rear bumper when loading/unloading stuff. As well as it stands up to a relatively big dog, I wouldn't think some sand and a few boards would be any problem.

Not my xB, but if you scroll down in this thread, it has a nice picture of the factory liner.

sweet, thx a lot.

I'll get one of those. There is no particular wear from the surf gear, but some sand..my old car the sand comes out of the car when you open the doors at some point I just didn't care any more.......I'm trying to avoid that as long as possible....

I went to Lowe's and bought some vinyl mat from the carpet section. It's pretty tough and ony costs a few dollars a foot.

The vinyl mat would be great for under the OEM. The OEM slips over the back of the seats and covers the seat backs when the seat is down. Unfortunately, they put cutouts for the LATCH anchors in the OEM liner that allows sand and such to fall thru, but it's still better than nothing.

I've used mine to carry ~800lb of sand (bagged) and concrete blocks. The liner withstood sliding the blocks just fine. Some sand did make it around the edges but minimal at worst. The liner has velco to hook into the loops around the hatch and stays in place very well. Because of the bulk, the liner is large when folded and doesn't fit under the floor unless you flip the spare and stick it in the well. I'm thinking the the vinyl mat would be good to cover the seat backs and liner when the seats are down. I wish the liner also extended up the sides a little but it doesn't. the plastic is still vulnerable.

I think the liner is a good value even with the limitations.

okay, I might do a combo of those above since I will have a lot of beach gear in the back on a regular basis...sort of always keep a boardshort and a board in the car...and the liner for when I go for full kite gear outings...and the all seats need to come down

:-)

Thx
