Okay, so I just got back from the show. A lot of people have said the new models are way nicer in person. Have you been to the show? What do you think?
I still don't like the stock xB, however, I think the five axis one is really nice. If that kit is available through the dealer, it will look good with some proper wheels. (anyone notice that they didn't do the rear brakes? The fronts were vented with red calipers, the rears were dead stock.)
The xD is nice. Again, the five axis kit helps greatly, but I think the xD has a lot of potential.
Scion's floor setup was the most impressive one at the show by far, and it was definitely drawing a lot of people.

I went yesterday. The cars are much nicer in person. The xB does not look a foot longer. While I thought the xD's front end looks hideous in pictures, It's pretty nice in person. It's also very tiny. I'll post some pics up later.

you pretty much restated everything i said on my thread "Just Wait" regarding seeing it in person.
Most of the pictures I have would just be facsimiles of pictures already out there, with the exception of these two:
Look at this bulge across the hood.

Stubby Antenna:

I realize that these are from the 5Axis xB, not the stock one, but the pictures came out a lot better on the lighter color, and these items are the same on both cars.

The teal at the show is NOT the teal being produced!!!! The teal is a much darker teal, with a partial metallic feel to it. They were giving out the new magazines there, and it has the colors available. The blackberry is very nice. They have a full body shot with the blackberry. Many other nice shots of the new xB and xD.
They gave away free sampler cds as well. They were about the only company to give a worthwhile freebie, most were too cheap. My only complaint was they had little info to offer. No clue when prices will be announced, no clue as to mpg. They said they think it will come out in May. THINK??
The biggest disappointment was that they refused to open any of the doors. I asked nicely and was told that corporate told them not to open them. okay?? Nice looking on the outside, the teal was kinda cheesy.

it has been me personal expierence with large public auto shows that the reps. there really dont know the information or they are missed informed. I wouldnt take what they have to say to heart. I havent heard from Mark Templin but i have heard from some people who work in Scion tell me that the first of the new Bs should be on our shores late March early April.
those people you see at the Scion booth are not Scion employees at a dealer or corporate level. they're paid just to hand out brochures and schwags. Scion did not want salespeople at these event soliciting businees like the Toyota or Lexus booth.
You should have been there on Friday. There was a group of us from the Central Atlantic Region and they did open the doors a few times for us. We couldn't get in, but we could see inside pretty well.
About the display... Cadillac was ____ED OFF!!! We blocked their whole display. They did a lot of complaining but too bad, so sad for them.

I was at the show on the 10th and I was very impressed with the cars. I was just angry that they didn't open the doors or hood to any of them. I actually wrote a complaint to Scion. I wonder what good it'll do...
This is what I wrote...
I was at the Chicago Auto Show recently to check out the new and hotly anticipated xB in person. As a soon-to-be college graduate I planned on buying a car for myself this May and Scion is one of my top choices because of Toyota quality and price (my family have been Toyota loyal since our first Corolla purchase).
I was psyched when I read on the internet about the new 2008 xB and xD; and "car-gasmic" when there was a gallery complete with pictures of the interior and exterior. However, when I visited the booth I went away very disappointed that I could not view the larger interior as well as the innards under the hood of the xB. It did not help that the windows were rolled up and tinted making visibility inadequate to even peek inside. As an added "bonus", there was a certain Scion representative standing next to one of the new xB's that seemed very reluctant to answer any of my questions regarding the vehicle. This is not the way to promote a new iteration of a hot product to a potential buyer.
How come the media, as well as the Scion website, promote the new vehicles in all their glory with pictures inside and out, but conceal them from the show goers? This to me does not make sense (or cents) because if the car interior is supposedly unfinished (or subject to change) then why show any pictures at all? Also, why not set up the models so that the doors and hood are opened so that the public will get an idea of what they will be purchasing? I know this is a possibility because some of the other displays at the show did this (even the concept cars)!
The show is a great place for potential buyers to compare and contrast the competition. With the way the booth is set up now, it would seem that Scion is hiding something. With only a few days left before the show leaves town, I hope you will do the right thing and correct this blatant oversight. Then I will be glad to come back and see what I came there to see. Doing this will make me a very satisfied customer and a future owner of a new xB.
