Default Concern of what I saw while installing TRD Springs.

So yesterday I finally installed my springs (looks awesome now!) but when I pulled the front wheels off, I saw this thick black lining around the entire rotor. It was probably 2 inches thick and somewhat in the middle.

Any ideas what happened? I'm usually not really hard on the brakes and I've never seen this before on any previous cars I had. The rotors aren't warped and/or no vibration so I'm wondering if I should be worried......

It won't help without a picture. If it is really worrying you, I would take it into service and have it checked out.

It most likely brake dust, even if you are not hard on the brakes. Ceramic brake pads will give off a alot of black dust like that. Springs has nothing to do with that or the rotors for that matter. Springs just change your suspension and dont alter the rotors in any way.

Are you talking about the black "cover" behind the rotors?

That is just there to mitigate the impact of Brake dust on the suspension and steering components. This is normal on most late model cars.

If you are seeing a build-up of a black substance on the actual Rotor, you may want to get that checked out.

Pictures always help.

No its not the black cover behind the rotor, its some kind of substance on the actual rotor (and its black). I think it may be brake dust.

Sorry for no pics it didn't even cross my mind when I was installing the springs. Hopefully I can get some tomorrow cause I work really late tonight.....
