So this has been the crappiest weekend in a long time. Yesterday we were driving to go see a movie when some guy in a Ranger decided to change lanes and not look to see if anyone was in it so the front and side of my box are totally botched. Called the cops, exchanged info, etc. Guy was pretty calm, and admitted fault out right so that was good I thought. Then last night around midnight, while we were all out at the bars I get a message on my phone from the officer who handled the incident saying my license is suspended as of three days ago and I need to come down and get cited otherwise they're filing an arrest warrant. Well, since I didn't get the message til this afternoon I try and go down to the station to take care of everything. I have a slight idea why it was suspended, a random insurance check, that I got a month ago - that I completed and mailed in, obviously, a month ago... which I never heard a thing after that fact. Anyhow, I get to the station, but there's no one there who can help me. WTF. So I head home, the station direct, they tell me they can't do anything, and warned me not to drive or i will be arrested on the spot. Told me I have to call the BMV. Great. It's Saturday. They're closed. I'm sooooo ____ed. Anyone been in a similar situation? My XB's still driveable, and I have to wait til monday to deal with the guys insurance to get it fixed, but now I'm afraid that because of this botched up suspension I'm gonna get the shaft somehow. I was also in an accident in August with this thing. My neighbor rear ended me in our parking lot. I'm having such bad luck - I'd never been in an accident in my 10 years of driving until this car. ARGH.

I feel your pain... About 15 years ago I was refused insurance because of a typographical error at the MVA. Apparently someone with a driver license number close to mine had refused a BAC test on new years eve and had his license suspended. Unfortunately for me the MVA clerk who entered his suspension made a typo and entered my license number instead. Unknown to me I had been driving around for ~6 months on a suspended license for an offense I didn't commit. It took me several hours on the phone with various MVA nitwits to finally get their error corrected. Had I been pulled over for anything during those ~6 months I would have been arrested for a clerical error!!!

 

Love the car... just ____ed at this situation. Hopefully I'll get this cleared up tomorrow. Hopefully.

I almost had a lady come over on me last week. I laid on the horn and she just kept on coming. It's going to be a fun holiday season.

My old insurance company messed up posting a few payments, and canceled my insurance even though it was paid. Had if corrected the day I found out, but they send the notice to the DMV and they send me a notice that my license is suspended. After two hours of faxing and phone calls, got them to correct the mistake.

Now I just have to get my driving record corrected. A woman rear ended my Corolla 3 years ago, did over $600 in damage, but my driving record shows me at fault! I was PARKED in a parking lot when she rear ended me, her insurance paid out, and I am listed as liable on driving record and paying extra for insurance because of some idiot's typo.

 

Similar situation is why I own a box today. I was stopped for nothing, or so I thought, and found out my ex had not paid any excise taxes for at least 4 years. 2000.00 dollars in payments.

Oh and thursday I got one phone call all day. Ya, my daughter, who does not call, write, or speak to me, is pregnant. The guys ahe hangs with are cowards and losers. Now she wants to introduce me to the child as granpa! Should be interesting.

back in in 84 my lic. was pulled cuz another guy with the same name as mine had a dwi.

 

I was rear ended while driving with a suspended license and there was no issue, His fault he paid. The officer said to me, your suspended license had nothing to do with that guy hitting you.

This was in AZ.

lol i got pulled over one time. while on the side of the road i saw six cars show up. yeah officer miskeyed my licence number. the guy they keyed up had shot two cops on a traffic stop. yeah that was one night i will not forget. lucky the officer stoped to rekey it in after calling back up in. i would have been beat up badly. he told me about it. good thing is i got out of the ticket...lol was nice of them.

 

think I have everything straightened out now. Monday I was told I'd have to mail in proof of insurance again and wait 2 weeks, or drive an hour to the regional BMV reinstatement center to provide proof and have my license reinstated. So my fiancé and I headed to Cleveland and got that taken care of in 30 seconds at the BMV, came back to town, stopped at the police station where I was told they just put out a warrant for my arrest, but because I came in for the citation, and told them I called and stopped by over the weekend and got no help what-so-ever, they removed the warrant. With the citation came court the very next morning, tuesday. So tuesday I miss 2 hours of work to sit in a court room waiting for my minute with the judge. I got up there, explained the situation and he goes on to tell me how most local judges think the random insurance proof check is ridiculous and he had in fact run into the same situation last summer. So, since I acted in a timely manner to get things fixed, and proved that I've had insurance not only since august of 07 as the request, but all the way back ten years ago when I got my license, he dismissed the whole thing. Now I just need to get the car repaired. I have a claim filed with the guy's insurance, and I went to get an estimate yesterday so I should hear back soon to set up an appointment to get this fixed.
