Default Did my tint today

I went with 35% on the drivers and passengers doors, and 5% on the rear doors and hatch. Combined with the factory tint on these, it is DARK !

Just a quick picture, I will add more later

Compare above to stock

Actually it is pretty good. The pictures from outside do not show what the inside view is. If someone is in the back seat, you have to try really hard to see them !

Out the back, it is the equivalent of setting the rear view mirror on dark position.

Wow can you say Limo Tint?

I am wondering how 35% of the right tint will do at matching the factory rear side windows. I would like to try for the even look on the front and rear side windows.

I don't want my rear that dark. It looks great, but just not for me.

Iride, I had it done locally at a friends shop, it is not hard to do if you have the right equipment & a little bit of practice. You basically mist the outside of the glass, lay the tint outside, make your cut to fit, remove, mist the inside, peel off the backer, install tint and squeegee the bubbles out. Use a heat gun if needed to shrink / curve or remove excess water.
The XB is much easier to do than say a VW Bug with its curved windows.

Each State is different. If you find someone with a tint meter, they can measure what percentage of light passes thru the stock rear windows, and then you can get a tint that will match well.

Totally depends on local state rules.

This page has a reference table and when you scroll down the actual code for your state. There are alphabetical lists for all states linked from this page.

You might want your rears windows a bit darker than the fronts. That way if you are noticed by a cop with nothing better to do, the juxtaposition between the lighter and darker tints might make them think its a lesser % than it is. If its all one darkness all around it may call more attention from a ticket-writing-happy cop.

I rode in the back seat of a Lexus with 15% tint at night, and I felt like I was in a coffin... tint works both ways, it's not a two-way mirror where one side can see through and the other can't.
