Default Digon: A New Stance…and New Shoes

A few months ago I was in the market for some new wheels. It was definitely time for change, I had out grown my custom powder coated “time attacks” TRD’s. I also knew I was going to be changing the stance on the xB so I figured why not get some new wheels while I’m at it… after getting inspired by NEEK and several Hella flushed out rides, I knew what I wanted! Crazy offsets, something staggered and a 19 diameter wheel that could fit the TRD big break kit and finally something that looked good and was DIFFERENT.

First things first the suspension, Shin from ACC ( Air Runner ) hooked it up! The suspension is fully equipped on the Air Runner's System for the Scion xB. I was so stoaked no more repainting the front lip! who knows how many times I had to do it rolling on the Hotckiss TVS springs, which, I might add are a well build lowering springs, trust me prior to that I had gone through four different sets of springs trying to get the perfect height, BUT that’s a whole different story. The Hotchkiss TVS provided an excellent start. Air Runner is definitely quality you can trust, it gives you the best of both worlds! the wife can ride it without fearing that she would be creating some damage to the front lip. I just raise it up 4x4 style and my mind is at ease LOL. So now that my suspension was set …it was time for some shoes, especially since I was rolling on “stockie steelies” I had sold my custom TRD's.

I came across Ark Designs USA, through a good friend (Nilo from Scion Evo.). This JDM company had just released their R8 wheels to the U.S. Market. When I first saw them, it was love at first site haha, this was a straight 8 spoke wheel with a twist, a ring in the middle? Yeah for sure it was a wheel I had never seen in my life; this was definitely something different and real UNIQUE, which is what I wanted. I can’t say enough also about the ARK Designs team they knew just what i was trying to accomplish and was helpful every step of the way. I went with the Gun Metal color R8 wheels, maybe it was the dark grayish color or the matte finish or maybe it was my other fascination with guns that attracted me to that color!? I don’t know, I just knew they were it… here was what I went with.

R8

Front 19x 8.5 +35
Rear 19x9.5 +40 Flushed with 15mm spacers, +25 Oh, yeah definitely “Herra frushed”. ( wanted flexibility )

This was perfect choice, Everything that I initially wanted to accomplish got checked off, BTW these wheels are sooooo light it was pretty weird picking up a 19x9.5, it was almost surreal how light these puppies where. I would estimate close to 15- 20 pounds lighter than my previous, entire set ( TRD 19x8 ) ... overall I’m really happy with the results, look and stance on the car. I'm actually considering picking up The Shinning Silver ones CHEK THEM OUT http://www.arkdesign-us.com/r8-wheels, Let me know what you guys think?

4X4 LOL

Looks great! I really like the look of gunmetal on the CSM (I did that too), and the center rings on the wheels frame out the front BBK discs quite nicely.

BTW, yes “Herra frushed”!

Yeah they are definitely different and not for everyone;), no worries. I have to have the decals on. Those are all my sponsors, got to give them props when I can. The decals are also reflective red so when the flash is used on a camera it reflects back.

Based on the specs, the fronts poke about 1/8" and the rears poke about 1/2" including the rear spacers.
