Default Discovered something neat about Scion Security!

I've no idea whether this behavior is typical for car security systems, but my Scion Security system happened to be armed when I disconnected the battery negative today. I found that when the battery is reconnected, the alarm fires instantly! Did that ever make me jump !

I think that's a really nice feature -- I like it !

Yep, it also says that it'll go off if you look into the RS3200 manual.

Too bad it doesn't fire when the battery is disconnected. Thieves are more likely to be disconnecting the battery to disable the alarm rather than reconnecting it

That's called an auxiliary battery. Can't expect too much from a security accessory, but that doesn't prevent you from expanding

Screw the Scion Security system, and spend a lot less on upgrading your comprehensive insurance coverage.

I'd prefer to avoid vehicle damage than have to repair it. I've read that if you have window warning stickers (preferably ones that don't identify the security system) and a believable security flasher, your car is likely to be passed by. Though a thief may well give it a bump first to verify there's a reaction.

Yeah, I don't know ! My understanding is the strategy is to make your car less inviting to a thief than the next. Of course, if they're specifically focused on the exact car you own, it's likely to be a tough situation . (Wouldn't really expect an econobox like the xB2 to fall into that category though!) I'm satisfied mine will make an obnoxious noise in a variety of potential theft situations, so unless the thief has specifically zeroed in on my car (can't imagine why), I'd expect it to be OK. Here's hoping anyway!

I gather step one is smash the driver's window. Sounds like only defense for that is a hidden battery and siren.
