Default door speakers

i just recently blew my door speakers and was gunna upgrade to the ie from kenwood possibly boosted what's the biggest size i could retrofit into there or better off sticking with the 6.5. i really like the sound of the 6x9 and put them in a 4 runner where a 4 is supposed to be and was pleased with it. just never got around to checking to see how big the fitting was inside the door. thanks

I bought 6.5"s for my doors, haven't installed yet. Supposedly the depth is 4", but I haven't personally confirmed this. 4" should be plenty for most mainstream consumer speakers. No sense in my opinion going with 6x9s where a 6.5" will fit. Most high-end SQ speakers I've seen come in 6.5", but never 6x9. Coincidence? Probably not. With the 6.5" size, you have many options, from entry level coaxials all the way to $500+ component sets. Are you planning to change your HU and run an amplifier with the speakers? Come check out hawaiicaraudio.net, we might be able to help you more there.

well i currently have a dnx9140 wired up and a coustic 270 watt amp on the side just sitting there that i might boost them with. well i was just wondering cause when i put those 6x9 in there instead of the 4 it made a significant difference due to the greater surface area and able to handle a lot more power. it doesnt need to be a 6x9. it could be a 6x8 or 7 circle just something with a greater surface area

Why in the world would you have such a high end headunit, and such a craptastic amplifier?
I recommend installing proper audio equipment.

I'm currently running a set of JL XR650CSi's in my doors. They're ran off of 2 channels of a Diamond Audio D3 500.4. There's plenty of midrange, although midbass lacks slightly. You can fit larger midrange speakers in the doors, however you'll have to find a proper tweeter to match up with the larger driver.

If you want to find the best setup go to crutchfield.com. It will give you everything that will fit our cars. You can also talk to arep and they can even do a full setup for you and find proper amp if you want to power the speakers and give you everything. Then what I do is go to ebay and find all the items and save a couple hundred

could i fit these? i am tempted to just pop off my panels and check my self but just how big is the cut out i mean i know the holes are for a 6.5 but i could always do selt tapping screws. is the speaker bolted straight to the metal, or is it bolted to a plastic bracket slightly larger? http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entert...rs/KFC-C1739ie

I personally recommend running a 6.5" component set. Coaxials will pull the sound down towards where the speaker is physically at.

If you're serious about good sound, why are you looking at coaxials? Get a solid pair of 2-way components, or 3-way components. Coaxials probably won't get you what you're looking for. I don't see why you want to go any bigger than 6.5". A solid set of 2-way 6.5"s components will blow a mediocre pair of 6x9s or 3-way coaxials out of the park. If you're serious about good sound, stop looking at Kenwood or other brands. They're okay for mainstream consumers, but you're serious, you're more likely to find what you're looking for with companies like DLS or Rainbow. Remember, sound quality is only as good as your weakest link. You have a nice HU, but if you have a crappy amp, even the nicest speakers aren't gonna sound good. Keep in mind if you want a lot of mid-bass, you're gonna have to deaden the doors or the mid-bass will just vibrate the hell out of em.

Also, about asking a rep to set you up with a system, then ditching and going to eBay, thats just wrong. I almost hope your non-warrenty eBay gear craps out on you.
