I have a bad habit of swinging the drivers door wide open til it hit's the stopper or the door metal bar in the door stops it.

It really is pretty easy to open.

I was looking at one on a dealer lot parked next to another car and I was trying to get the door to stay open partially without hitting the car next to it and I noticed that it was very difficult to find any "detents" or "notches" that would hold the door partially open without it swinging all the way open.

first time we parked the new car in the garage, my wife opened the door and let it swing into the workbench on the side wall. Gah! Thankfully no damage done

I spent the next 3 hours moving the bench into our sunroom, setting the laser parking pointer over a bit and basically padding anyhting solid with tubes and foam.

A part way open notch would be great.

Default Door Swing

Installed some black edge guards on the door I don't think that they are the best quality...............Let's see I might spring for a better set in future....They really blend in with the Teal color

I was also concerned about accidentally bumping the door edges, given the the doors' tendency to swing out all the way. So I also installed inexpensive door edge guards, that I found at Wal-Mart's automotive section. It's this one:

I think the chrome colored one looks pretty good on my silver xB2, but they were a little too short to cover the entire front door edges at only 24" long each, so I had to use one and a half set. (I didn't do the rear.) I'm sure longer ones are available somewhere else, but it's doing good for me for now. I also saw black and white ones in the store.

I've gotten used to the doors' light detent now though, so I don't swing the doors wide open anymore.

Default edge guard

The set I bought had a problem making that curve on the rear doors.....So I tried to place them down as far as possible I know there are much better sets out there....There was a type of glue on the inside......They also sell sets that stick to the outside with 3m tape.......We shall see
