Before I go to the dealership being that high maint guy with the new xB, I wanted to find out if anyone else had the same issues.

When my ebrake is down, it just seems very loose. What I mean by that is it seems like there is a lot of free play from the off position to the first click. It's almost there is no resistance until i hit that first click.

Anyone else? I doesnt really affect anything, it just make it feel cheap to me and it shouldnt be like that.

 

It just needs to be adjusted.. you can easily do it yourself or just take it in.

 

How easy? Can you do a quick write up? I really dont have the time to leave it at the dealership.

 

Well, I haven't taken the time to actually look at the xB's parking break handle. So if anyone else has please jump in and give a little more detail. However, most vehicles I own are adjusted by just tightening a nut where the cable is connected to the handle. You can adjust it so far from this location. So pop off the cover around the handle and take a look if there is a cable running to the handle and a adjustment on it. Just turn it enough to remove most of the play in the handle.

 

Remember that these are disk brakes and they are not going to feel like your every day drum brakes when it comes to the ebrake handle.

There has been at least one of post on this, you may check around the site a little and see if there was a good resolution. Mine does it too but I never use it so I could care less.

 

thats normal.. my honda accord was the same way..

I use my ebrake everytime i park my car.. and it dosnt bother me at all.. who cares.. that it has a little play?? i would rather it have a little play.

personally i think its silly to even think about having it "fixed" but whatever.

 

mine's quite loose compared to my tCs (also 4 disc, so that's not the issue). just wiggling the ebrake will cause the parking brake light to come on.

but, i too am not worried about it, not till it causes any issues like the parking brake light goes on and off just from me driving. shoulda thought about looking at it when i had the center console apart yesterday though.

 

same here. If I hit a big enough bump, the brake light comes on and beeps

 

Thats pretty much my worry. Luckily I havent hit that big of a bump (yet)

 

All it would be though is a sensor saying the brake is on when you hit the bump, not the actual brake being applied. So if the warning drives you crazy enough, have it looked at. If you can deal with it knowing your brakes are not on, then don't worry about it.
