my F&I manager told me that the other day. It's really a win-win situation! There when you need it, if you don't need it you get your money back ;)

Default BE CAREFUL.

i found the greenfield dealership months back by doing a search online. they were advertising their cheap warranties under http://www.scionwarranty.com and had a website that looked like scions old look and feel. i thought it was legitimate until i got the pricing. i was thinking to myself how can this dealership sell the same warranties as my local dealership for up to $500 cheaper? so i called scion directly to verify that the warranties the greenfield toyota/lexus dealership was selling extended warranties that would be honored by MY local (MI) dealership. I mean i don't want to drive to MA for service. lol. I must have talked to 5 different departments in the corporate world that couldn't verify that this guy was selling warranties accepted by all dealerships. i never did get an extended warranty from him, or yet in general. i'm still looking. i revisited the scionwarranty where the greenfield dealership was giving extended warranty prices and it's no longer up! so i'm still shopping for a warranty.

i just want people that don't live in this area to be careful and take the steps i did or more to find out if greenfields warranties are used at your local dealer. maybe call the dealer you use and see. the questions to the people that bought it that aren't using the warranty in MA:

- did your dealer accept greenfield's warranty?
- any problems?
- has anyone tried using it?

Thanks.

So the extra $1100 or so i spent on my extended warrenty ( 7yrs & 100K miles ) for my first gen i can get back when my car hits 7 yrs? Not that a grand will buy a lot in 4 years, but it should at least pay for a tank of gas.

On a side note, for those who may have purchased GAP insurance and paid off your car early like i did, you can get the left over portion you havent used refuned back to you. You need to contact your stealership and give them a copy of the GAP insurance policy. I paid off mine 2 1/2 years early and recieved $100 back from the $500 i spent on the insurance.

Plus, if you're stranded somewhere they will pay for a Hotel for ,I think, 4 nights?

Incidentaly, the Toyota Platinum warranty is one of the best in the Business, I don't work for Toyota or Scion so I'm not plugging them, I just know a lot about Warranties...

And by the way, before buying ANY Warranty one should go to the "Exclusions" section FIRST....this will tell you more about what's covered than any other section of their often cleverly written Policies....

It's so nice to beable to walk into any Toyota/Scion Dealership when you have a problem, flip them the Card and say "Fix it"....

As long as you make no claims in that 7 years, yes. You get a full refund. I totally hear you on the gas thing, too!

If you're more than 150 miles from home, they will tow you to the nearest dealership and reimburse you for lodging up to $100/night..I can't remember how many nights and I can't find it on Toyota's website. I want to say it's 3 but I'll check and get back to you. Rental cars are also reimbursed up to (I think) $50/day for 5 days. But like I said, I'll let you know the definites soon..probably Monday night after work I'll get 'em up

Hot d*mn ... is it that way with all Toyotas? I mean, that is a win win situation. If you dont use the extended warrenty you get it back? Common, you would be nuts not to get it.

You also have to ask yourself how long will you own the car.

At my current pace at buying new cars I will be lucky to have the thing for more than 2 years so it wasent wise for me to but the extra warenty.

Why didn't you call around and ask other Toyota dealers whether they would accept your dealer in MI's x-warranty? It's the same x-warranty your local dealer is selling, A Toyota warranty is good anywhere in the US of A.

Go over to the Tundrasolutions.com website, they (Greenfield) have sold a lot of warranties on it.

I haven't heard of anyone complaining on that site, yet..

It's your decision, if you want to pay more money...

I'd confirm this information with Toyota Xtracare before purchasing it though. It'd be good to hear it from the company that is actually warranting the vehicle.

at our dealership, Toyota doesn't even offer 3yr/100k...the only two time intervals we have with 100,000 mile coverage is 6 year and 7 year.

Just a heads up. The refund on your warranty if you don't use it is not good on all warranty contracts. Some dealers had offered that and the refund was not backed by toyota it was done thru a independent company. You need to check your contract and see if it applies to the one you have. It is not something that toyota does on every contract.

Call Troy Dietrich 413-772-0231 Greenfield, MA
Tell him "David Lynn" gave you his info. No I'm not making a dime, just helping a fellow Scion brother/sister out. He sells Toyota/Scion warranties.[/quote]

CALL TROY!!

This is no joke. I got my 100k from Troy - easy as pie. Make the call!!! Doesn't matter where you live, anyone can get this warranty from him.

IT does NOT matter that you are buying it in MA - AT ALL. Troy is no scam artist. The warranty if from TOYOTA period. Doesn't matter where you buy it from!

It's always a good idea to get GAP insurance on your xB if you're financing most of it's value, let's say you borrow $18000 and a year later your xB is stolen or totaled your insurance company will only pay out what the vehicle is worth at the time, if you have a high interest rate you will probably still owe almost $18000 but your Insurance will only pay out approx $12000..you're still on the hook for $6000.

Dealerships will scare you into buying GAP, just like I did, the only problem is, they charge $650 or more for it. I know for certain my Insurance company, Metlife, offer GAP on a brand new xB for $10 every 6 months. Call your Insurance carrier before you go into the Stealership to find out if they offer GAP, if not, change your Insurance to someone who does.

Toyota/Scion warranty: I bought the Platinum extended warranty for the 2008 xB I traded in yesterday on a 2012, I never used it and yes you do get the cost back, problem is, it takes 5-6 Months to get the Check from the date you trade the Car in.

You're welcome.

Scion dealers are allowed to discount any new Scion, Part, or VSA as long as they offer the same deal to all customers within the 30 day period. I worked for Toyota and many times we would run specials for Invoice on New Scions, Cost on VSA's, and of course discounted parts. Just my 2 cents.

As for the VSA 7 year 100,00 for 750 that's a smoking deal.
