First casualty.
I filed a police report. He said it could be bored rich neighborhood kids with nothing to do. I guess the box caught their eye.
$500 deductable from my insurance, they're willing to pay $450.
The glass is about $475 OEM from toyota. My body shop says its about $100 to install.

Dude that is messed up i hate people who have nothing better to do than ruin peoples hard earned stuff.
VIN etching is where the VIN number is acid etched somewhere on every piece of glass on the car. The idea is that a thief will think twice before stealing your ride because he can't sell the stolen glass, which is usually one of the easiest parts to make quick cash on.
It does nothing to stop mindless vandalism like this.

Your like a year out of high school seems a litttle soon to be bashing, not that it wasnt them, anyway that seems like a pretty good price for the rear window, i got a quote for the front widshield and it was like $560.00!
and i dont see what vin etching has anything to do with what happened here.
BTW did they take anything outa the back? or was this strictly people being idiots?
