that is a production mule most likely. The chassis and mechanical hardware is probably being tested, but the shell is just a mock up.
I was in Maimi and the new xB is more akin to the bB (although with differences)

It looks like someone is playing around with a current xB. The overall shape is not correct and the windows in the rear doors had a bit more slope to them. The windows on this one look too much like the existing xB. It could just be the cover being deceiving, but the picture looks like it may have windows in the rear. The new xB does not have C-pillar windows.
I wish I was out in Killa Cali, that's for sure.

After posting those pix and doing some Froum browsing & thinking, now I'm sure it's just a mule. Apparently this thing has been running around since last fall. But I still wonder about the body under all that camoflage. It didn't seem to be just a dressed up xB because the dimensions all seemed way off. As far as people always talking about t2B, so far Toyota's concept cars have always been much more extreme than what they will actually produce - so I won't hold my breath regarding the t2B concept. I was able to find this info, so that could have been a hint of what I was looking at:
the next Scion xB will be based off the new-generation Corolla platform and will seriously bulk up in size, according to the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun industry newspaper.
The five lug wheels might be an indicator of that, but not sure about the RH fuel door. since most current Toyotas are all LH. Maybe we'll know for sure by next month what the new xB & xD will look like. This came from the Scion Says website:
It’s a sure sign that aftermarket parts and accessories are soon to come for the xD and new xB when measuring sessions for manufacturers are being held. These measuring sessions will be held for SEMA manufacturer members only in Diamond Bar, California on January 24-25, 2007.
