Default Has anyone installed a circuit into the dash fuse panel?

There's a fuse panel under the dash to the left of the steering column and I'd like to install my trailer hitch fuse in an unassigned slot adjacent some others fed off the circuit I want to use. I'm wondering if some enterprising person has already gone through this for one of their own projects and can tell me how to go about accessing the back of the fuse panel. Anybody?

Thanks in advance !

In this past, I have found a fuse of the same size I need already in the panel and used a fuse jumper to avoid having to add something new. You can get one at Autozone.

That's interesting! Would probably have accomplished what I wanted, adding an additional fuse at the end of a common power source series with an available open slot. I'll have to take a look at that, though as of today, I'm afraid it's too late ! After staring at the schematics and physical wiring for a long time, I finally settled on splicing into the IG2 wire at the ignition switch and mounting the supplied harness fuse instead. Definitely not as elegant as I'd have liked, but solid. Here's a photo:

The yellow thingy near the center is the supplied fuse holder. Unfortunately, not a Toyota mini-fuse!

Thanks !

eff trying to look at fuses in that location. My back is still tweaked from it.

Nice work though.

Thanks -- looking at the lower back of the dash junction box from underneath, it looks as though it to some degree snaps together. I suspect it is possible to add a circuit to an open fuse location, but would probably require removal of the junction box -- yuuuck! That only left two good switched choices (prefer not to use a direct battery connection) and since the ACC Relay return wire is awkward to get at, I settled for the ignition switch. Even though the fuse is behind the dash skirt panel, it may still be more convenient than in the fuse block !
