haha i have 15,000 miles and have driven to LA. I have pits GALLORE all over the windshield, one chip on roof right above windshield, a chip on the left fender, hood of course and i think my right a pillar on the vinyl got knicked, but the windshield still there chillin...seems fairly tough to me for the angle its sittin at, ill keep everyone posted as it doesnt crack
ha i hope it doesnt!
I had a rusty piece of metal fall off an overpass in downtown Detroit. It hit in the upper right corner of the windshield. No breaks!!! Just rust embedded in 6 inches of the glass!!!
That was during the summer. Went the whole long cold winter without it developing any cracks.
BTW - The cops wouldn't come out to file a report - they said to make a claim with the county road commission. County road commission said file a claim with your insurance. They would only take a claim if it resulted in a multi-vehicle accident or bodily injury. Insurance wouldn't waive the deductable without a police report.

I have had the xB about 14 months and replaced 3 windshields all due to rocks. We have a lot of rocks in Arizona! The auto glass folks have said the Toyota FJ Cruiser get more broken windshields than the xB.
I understand it's important to show Toyota that this is indeed a design flaw, and I would like to have a place to show what the numbers are.

I repeat from page 2 most EMPHATICALLY!
I now have 3 small rock chips after 48k miles in 2 years... I have no doubt that I will be replacing my windshield before I hit that 7-1/2 year mark. I call that a financial WIN.
xB windshields love rocks, and lose the battle every time. I recommend everybody look into lowering your comprehensive insurance deductible to $100. I have State Farm (they don't offer separate windshield insurance), and the premium increase to go from $500 comp. deductible down to $100 was only $20 more every 6 months. This means that I break even if it costs $400 to replace a windshield, and I do it once in the next 7-1/2 years. Odds are pretty good that I'm going to come out ahead on this one, plus I'll only have to come up with $100 when it does happen.
I selected still-viewing-through-the-original-windshield on the poll, but I think I should qualify that by pointing out I've only 4K on the clock and none of my miles are highway, most being town and semi-rural roads. I also maintain sizable distances between myself and the vehicle ahead.
I have a small crack in my Xb that I just got this July. I traded in my 2006 for the 2010 and the 2006 never got a crack. So it sort of sucks but in that car I got my grill stolen so I consider that worst. People can be so sucky!
My 2005 xB finally gave in its windshield. It made it through lots of little nicks, dings and a couple of bulls eyes but this winter did it in. The cracks are on the passenger side coming from the edges where there were no previous hits or damage. I think the cold blasts we got here in NorCal Bay Area tweaked it enough over 3 weeks to do it in. But I'm upgrading to the blue tint windshield which is what I wanted when I bought my bento box.
