Insurance
I'm so close to purchasing an xB, I'm switching from a wrx for more economy. This is my main concern getting a truly economical car for college. I was just curios if the Scion's specifically XB are getting good rates. I've been looking at quotes, but there all over for some reason.

For both vehicles combined, we are paying $1250 every 6 months. Then again, there are two of us, with 2 cars and we are married.

As far as I know rates are dependant on credit score, age, record, vehicle, location. This will vary greatly from person to person due to those factors. I know Allstate uses all that, and I also recall someone a bit ago stating they didn't have the xB in their system yet.

(In fact, I never even looked at your age until it was brought up by another poster - it's not something I really care about.)
And, it'll have to be the age that's the difference, because your credit score _can't_ be that much worse than mine...
i definatly noticed a drop in the rates. i had a 2002 nissan ser spec-v and my insurance was 1050 every 6 months, my rates dropped about 300 bucks every six months. now keep in mind i am only 19 and still on my parents insurance, have a good driving record and excellent credit score. but that is very good for my age and if i went on my own insurance they would jump to around 600 bucks a month for some reason.
I went from an 04 Mustang ($1800/6months) to a 06.5 BSP xB (1140/6) to a 06 RS4.0 xB (1020/6) to a 08 xB (1030/6.) They are not that bad insurance wise, my insurance is under my name not the 'rents and has been since my 99 Saturn

There is also a problem when they submitted my details to the CA DMV, there was no match on their computers either, so they couldn't register my insurance with them...
BTW, my premium dropped $13 from my old 06 1/2 to my new 08.
It isn't much but at least it didn't increase!!

I believe that I had posted about the xB's not being in the ins. computer, but that has since been resolved. It took Allstate about a month to update their systems.
My wife and I are both 30. We have statefarm for homeowners and auto. We recently traded her '01 civic for an '07 Camry SE and traded my '05 Tundra DC for an '08 XB. Our car insurance went down a total of $30 to bring our annual total to just under $1200 a year.
I was paying 750 for 6 months with an 03 Matrix Xr, and when I got my 08 Xb it went up 30 bucks a month. I have heard that allot of companies do not have the 08's in the system and rate it as a Tc which can really jack up your insurance since it's listed as a sports car. I rated on the site with an 07 Xb and my insurance didn't change. I am shopping around for better rates.
