is the 2008 xB still considered a wagon for insurance purposes?

49/mo w/500 deductible too. But I am old, fat, married, a parent, have three cars, two motorcycles, and a house with the same agent.

Alright, I'm about to make everyone cringe regarding insurance rates. I am a 24 year old male with two tickets in the past 5 years. I am paying $913 for 6 months on my 2008 Scion xB.

What I have found with the insurance companies, is they have had to custom symbol it because the year and make does not exist in their databases. This means they have to custom build the specs (I think anyway).

Keep in mind that each insurance company evaluates your rate differently. Some may base it on engine size (in cubic meters) while others only care whether it is a I-4, V6, V8, etc. It just depends. At the end of the day, I don't think it matters whether the '08 xB is considered a wagon or 4 door sedan. Just know it's not considered a sports car which would most likely raise your rates if you're young.

My insurance card says "wagon" on it. 6 month premium is $489.00 with my dad as primary. It would have been almost $700 for me and almost $1400 on my own policy

Well, I am with Ameriprise and insure a 1998 Isuzu Amigo, 2006 xB RS3 and my 2008 xB. For the 2006 xB I pay $227 for 6 months and for the 2008 xB I pay $290 for 6 months. This is not a stripped down policy, it is a 100k/300k policy with $500 collision deductible, $100 deductible other than collision, glass, towing, rental car and first year New Car Replacement as well as GAP coverage.

I pay more for liability on the Amigo than both my xB's with full coverages put together because my 17 year old son drives it.

Mercury Insurance = SUV, Small
State Farm Insurance = Sport Van
RBC Insurance = Wagon

i was told there is a national insurance database that assigns vehicle designations by my agent - if so, why all the different vehicle type ratings for the 2nd gen xB from different insurance companies? it seems like they can call it whatever they want!

even NHTSA classify it as a Wagon:

NHTSA Crash-Test Results
Test 4-door wagon

Front Impact, Driver 4

Front Impact, Passenger 4

Rollover Resistance 4

Side Impact, Driver 5

Side Impact, Rear Passenger 5

On my insurance card it for sure says a hatchback wagon or something of the sort! No van or sport included!
