Default iPod connector aka Search Button 101

Planning this mod in the summer, but wanted to see if anyone else had already done it.

I want to relocate the iPod jack to INSIDE the armrest storage - honestly, I don't understand why it's not there already. I don't want to leave my iPod where everyone can see it, but I also don't want to have to take it with me everywhere I go. Right now I have it in there anyway, but the cable still plugs in outside, and the lid won't snap shut on the cable.

I'm going to do some Dremel work & relocate it to inside the armrest storage so I can have it plugged in but completely hidden, cable & all. Has anyone else done this? If so, is the little cover that says "iPod" on it part of the connector? I'd like to leave that where it is, and just move the connector itself, so it looks stock from the outside.

Comments/thoughts/suggestions?

I can't believe I'm going to say this....

Use the search button (now I feel icky), it's been done by several people (myself included) in fact, someone did a nifty DIY found here.. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...170&highlight=

When I changed the radio, the Ipod cable defacto moved to the armrest.

My wife hates it there.
