Default JDM spec XB?

Yesterday my serpentine belt snapped. Cause...water pump. Went to buy one from Pep Boys only to find out that it doesn't match up mine! Mine is smaller. Searching online and going to the dealer only to find out my XB has a japan spec motor, I'm like...huh? Apparently certain parts are different like the water pump and as I've come to find out the serpentine belt. So I couldn't even finish the job. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, could you please advise me of any other parts that I cannot get from the local parts store? Please and thanks in advance.

Yeah my buddy has an 08 and he replaced his belt with a shabby one from local parts store and all it did was make noise. You must use the OEM Toyota/Japan Belts...trust me on this.

I think this may be the issue with 04 xA. My belts aren't even 6 months old and they squeal especially in cold weather. The first set I got were crappy and wind up replacing them in a week and got another that squeals here and there. I know cold weather squeal but mine seems to be a little worse until it warms up. Next belt change will be OEM.

One would think a 2AZ-FE is all one in the same. Or does the "Japan spec" motors have different call letters?

And I would of never thought that about the belts either. Just replaced the belts on my wifes 2005 xB, all was quiet and about a month, then they started squealing again. Every time I go to work on it they stop so I can't figure out which belt it is or if it's a pulley that's the problem.

Well the car is working even better now. I did however use the serpentine belt I purchased from Advanced Auto with no noise at all. It was a Dayco belt by the way.

Right on. The belts we got for my wifes 05 was Gates, but we took it back and got OEM belts from the dealer and no noise, runs so quiet you can barely tell its running!
