This is what the guy called my Auto Trans..... When is the best time to shift to "S"......Can I use at all times??? What about MPG?

You should be able to use it all the time, so long a you don't redline too often.


Expect the MPG to be the same. I have been using it alot whenever I am driving around town. The auto usually shifts way over 3k rpms. Anytime I'm tooling around town, I'll use the "s" and shift around 2500 to try and increase MPG. Haven't really paid attention to whether it's working.

Assuming you are cruising at 50, when you shift to "S" the transmission will shift out of 4th (overdrive) into 3rd. From there you can up/downshift through each gear sequentially.

It'll shift to down to third if it's in fourth.
