miketf1 progress thread. air setup finished pg7
holy batman, batman!
i need to think about that.. my friend wants to sell me his brand new lips from his vs-xx's cause he is going to swap them out with bigger ones that he ordered... let me get back to you.. PM me with your phone number.. ill text you when i make a decision boss!
so i finally got around to making the system work better now.. i stepped down all the lines to 3/8" lines from 1/2" lines to slow everything down. sure the jumping was cool but ____. its no joke when you have passengers.

mated with a lower pressure switch the kit lifts and lowers way smoother and slower. no more of the violent jumping.. sure it doesnt dump as fast but nothing makes a scene like slowly airing down..
and with the event that happened at spocom.. i now have a waaayyy better bag setup in the rear.. the bags are bolted to a plate that bolts to the chassis, rather that being welded in. that way if anything, the bag simply is unbolted out. and with the new top plate, it positions the bag better so that i no longer rub on the rear axle.

and now im rolling on some skyline R32 GTR wheels for daily drive.. wider and better offset than my previous set of GTS wheels..

ill post more build pics as the car comes along. right now i only have the lines and i am waiting for the pressure switch, gauges and new struts cause the ksport ones literally exploded and is leaking shock fluid like no other...
much love for those that helped me out:
method4 for saving me after spocom and for building me a far better rear setup.. www.methodbuilt.com
limitless motorsports for rewiring my compressors after the fuse melted because of the undersized wire run for the compressors and re-doing my air system.. www.limitlessmotorsports.com

Nice, bro! Definitely looks good!!!
Glad you finally got it back! It always makes me laugh a little when I hear people running 1/2" line on anything smaller than a fullsize truck. It's just not necessary. Heck, I had a 185psi pressure switch, 1/2" lines, and Parker valves on my fullsize. It was lightning quick, but I couldn't imagine that on a car as small as ours! o_O
new struts arrived and i think i might just step the whole thing down to 1/4" lines. that would give me some super slow up/down.. keep the rest of the system 3/8" and just swap out the lines to the bag to 1/4" to save me a little money..
once i finalize ill post a video of the new smooth-nezzzz..

I'm not sure how much your shop would charge you to swap out the lines, or if you'd do it yourself. But you'd have to change all the fittings again, and in my opinion it's just not worth the extra money.
I'd go with these!!! :D I installed some of these on an EK Civic I worked on a few years back. It had air cylinders installed and it was quicker than what the customer had intended. So we scooped up some slow downs and it took care of business.

^^ spoken from a true air-head
you know what i mean. i actually ghetto rigged something similar to that back when i had the 1/2" lines. i grabbed some ball valves from work (i work at a plumbing/electrical supply house) and installed them. it worked wonderfully but what i had discovered is that because where the switches are located up front, kinda where the end of the front fender is, i can only place the valves in the wheel well, otherwise they would get torn out cause its underneath the car. when its in the wheel well, it gets caught on everything and it actually has damaged the ABS speed sensor bracket on the passenger side.. and once, as i was turning the control **** got caught and closed itself and since the bag side was leaking a little, i couldnt get it back up till i figured out what was wrong. and as for the rear, its fine where ever i place it but it would leak from the PTC fittings on the valve even when we cut the lines with the special cutter.
to be honest, simplicity is key. this whole experience has taught me is that dont make it complicated cause if anything goes down there is just more to be worried about.

Me, airhead?!?! NEVER! Lol! I've done more than a few air installs.
Do you have your valves mounted how Grant did? All underneath the car? You could mount them all directly off the tank, but I'm not a fan of that. Personally, when I'm ready to run air (same setup as you, Grant/Stylis perfected this I think) I'm going to mount all my valves behind my bumper covers. I'll keep the styrofoam support, but I'll mount all the valves behind the unboltable bumper support itself. IMO, it's a great place to have it becuase if anything happens to the valves, they're not stuck underneath the car. :D

i wash with meguiars tech 2 wash and the mr clean car wash purely as a water filter. i detail with mothers showtime and clay with mothers clay. i wax with meguiars tech 2.0 synthetic wax.
setup update.. i just picked the car up from limitless and i think im at the point where i feel safe with the system.. the new shocks were put in and a dakota digital gauge was put in to watch the tank and bags..

i think ksport sent me a revised version of the shock. the shock body looks like its anodized black rather than the "stainless" that it was before. if you go back a few posts the shock body rusted pretty bad. hopefully that these new struts wont explode like they did the last time around.. all the splash stains on the fender liner is from the old shocks spraying all over the place.

the dakota digital gauge.. limitless did a sweet install and i got nothing to complain about.. what they discovered is that i can actually roll around at around 10psi in the bags all around and id still be able to drive.. that just goes to show that we dont need a 5 gallon tank with a 200psi switch.. i can air up smoothly at around 100psi with no violent jumping..
