Default mobile HID INSTALLED! (w/ pics)

ok first off i have to thank cliifud from mobile HID who was very fast in shipping and in helping me out when i ran into a lil problem during the install. very fast PM response and very helpful over the phone. cliffud's customer service is what all other custmer service should set their bars to. thank again cliff!

first i thought i ran into a problem and after talking to cliffud i made a dumbass mistake. the bulbs wouldnt fit and it was because i was pulling out the hi beams instead of the low ones (i felt so stupid calling him about this...i wanted to tell him that i did in fact have a college degree to redeem myself )

but i did run into a second small problem which cliifud help me out through as well. the cord that came off of the cars headlights wouldnt fit into the socket for the HID's. after some small modifications on the socket it fit and everything worked out fine.

overall the install is VERY easy (and trust you me im a complete newb when it comes to this kind of stuff) if it wasnt for the socket problem i could of finished the install within 15 mins. pretty much went like this:

-take old bulbs out, put in HID bulbs.
-connect the power wires to the battery
-install HID ballast (i just used some industrial strength velcro tape)
-run the wires across the engine bay with the zip ties
-plug all the wires in
-plug the socket from one of the old headlight to the HID's

thats it.

heres some pics of where i installed the HID ballasts:

and the wires connecting the power- and i ran all the wires along the fron of the engine bay underneath where the hood latch is

front shot BEAUTIFUL!!!

again i purchsed the Mobile HID 6000k

my review from driving around tonight:

the HIDs are very bright. you turn the car on and it takes a couple of seconds to warm up then its like daylight. having the projector headlights, the light pattern has a very clean cut-off point. i didnt have to adjust the headlights at all it was perfect and i dint blind anyone. comparing to the BMW's HIDs (which i own) id have to say that the light distribution is better in the BMW. mobile hid has an slight uneven pattern. its very very bright in fornt of your car and gets very slightly patchy elsewhere. BUT it is sooo much better than stock theres no comparison. in front where the HIDs are the brightest is what you would only see in stock headlight but about 3 times dimmer. then the HID illuminates so much more area than stock, night driving becomes much easier.

simply put, for the price and quality of the HID kit you cant beat it. and w/ cliifud customer service its perfect. i was really hoping toyota would make HID an option for this car but mobile HIDs is exactly what i was looking for. great product! now lets see if it lasts

Thanks for the praise!

Just got my Kit today. Thanks Clifford! Install was a piece of cake, though I did have to bend the tabs from the old headlight harness to get them to fit the new system's input. Honestly, if I didn't have that little problem to deal with, it would have taken less than 15 minutes to make the change. Requires only a 1/2" socket, a screwdriver to help you release the tabs on the original headlights, and some scissors or wire cutters to trim the kit supplied wire ties. ( A nice touch, by the way!). I am astounded by the difference in available light, and I even got (by accident) the dimmest bulbs available, the 8000Ks. An e-mail to Clifford, and within an hour my 4300Ks were on their way to me. Great product, GREAT customer service!! If you want a major upgrade to your car for not much money, go with the Mobile HIDS, you won't be disappointed.

Oh, and since no one has answered the recurring question in this thread, the proper HID bulb for the 2008 xB is the H11.

That might be pushing it. I hid my ballasts up front inside the fender well. The install is very easy to stealth.
