Default MOBILHID--- Back to stock

I bought the 5000k kit for my 2nd gen xb back in august. For a month, there were no problems. Then one of the ballasts was going bad.. ie shorting out when I crossed lanes on the highway. Cliff replaced the ballast no problem. Recently, I have been having problems with the lights not turning on. The ballasts are on because I can hear them humming. After a few min. they magically turn on. This has been going on for about three weeks. Yesterday, I noticed that my running lights were not turned on. To my surprise I have not had tail lights or running lights for about two weeks because there is a short in the system somewhere that is causing this fuse to blow.
I am trying to revert back to stock, so I can drive at night, but for the life of me I can not find the stock switch plug so I can use my stock lights again. Anyone have an idea where the other end of the connection could have gone?

im sorry to hear that you had such an unlucky experience... the stock plugs should still be hidden in your engine bay, because you dont have to cut off/remove the stock plugs. i went digging for my left headlight plug (cause i used the right for the signal wire for the HID kit) and i found it hidden in my fender.

i guess the fender got hungry and ate the zip tie that i used to tie down that plug....

Well the passanger side plug should be right there, just hanging.

The drivers side you plugged into the relay, so just unplug that and it plugs into the stock bulb.

Sorry to hear it didnt work out for you, wonder why all the problems?

sorry to hear that your having problems with your hid's....i had the same problem with my xb-gen 1.....come to find out u have to i use a relay in the system due to the amperage change of the headlight circuit..which is the reason why u a re blowing fuses...check the manufacture of your hid kit....they might have a relay kit for it....

Are these HID problems with the scions kinda of scion specific?

I have had after market HID kits in 6 of my cars, all my hondas, a DSM and in my M3 and have never had fuse blowing problems, relay problems or every having to wire the HID kits to the battery for power. I have had high end apexcones and even cheap ebay ones.

Whats the deal?

So, the harness that came with my kit from mobilehid.com has a bad cnnection somewhere, which is causing the power to cut out and come back on and surge, which causes my tail light fuse to burn out for some reason. I have not had the best of communication with cliff. E-mail responses take a few days :/
has anyone else had this problem?

I don't want this to sound like a cliff/mobilhid.com bashing party, so I am going to add my $.02 also. I have had the kit on my xA for about 4 months now and have had no problems. I do have the supplied wiring harness on my car and know a little about electronics and it sounds like a ballast issue. Cliff normally would swap them out for you.

on the wire harness it is important to keep the relay switch dry it cant get wet at all. everyone should look at where the relay is and move it if you have to . i added wire to mine .and don't spray it with the water hose.

Im prepared in case that my HID's ever go out while im driving at night, haha. I got some extra 20 amp fuses in the back, along with my stock halogen bulbs if one of my HID's should go out. Never know and its always good to be prepared. Easy swap back to halogens if ever that should happen!

I had to revert back to the stock headlights as the HID kit caused too much interference to my FM reception and my HD radio FM reception. See my posts about this including my installation of my Visteon HD radio module and controller at this link.

I'm sorry Clifford the thrill of having HD radio in my car far outweighs having HID lights. If only I could find ballasts with low EMI interference.

I read somewhere that wrapping the ballasts in alluminum foil might help

Wow. I have XM, no troubles for me thus far. Given the choice, I'd prob stick to HID and good cd's. Sorry to hear your troubles bkirby.
