Default Motor Trend Car of the Year Finalist

that's right! our xB made the list.

BUT:
"the xB isn't built by Toyota at all but comes from a Daihatsu plant.
What's more, in Europe it's sold as the Daihatsu Materia and in Japan
as the Toyota Corolla Rumion." Kim reynolds, Motor Trend

Do you believe on this?

nope she's wrong. The 3rd gen bB is also sold as the Daihatsu Materia. Our 2nd gen xB is now sold in Japan as the Corolla Rumion. and i dont think its made by daihatsu. I even think the Materia is built at a Toyota plant.

You know what gets me....they show a Caddy in the first image, but don't talk about it. I guess what they're saying is...the Caddy is going to win, and this is their futile way of disguising it.

And, I'm very disappointed that they rank the Chevy Malibu and Dodge Grand Caravan above the xB. Like who the heck figured that the Malibooboo is worth 5 stars on design, but the xB only 2 stars? Aw hell, they gave the fugly Caravan one more star than the xB.

What's up with that crap?

And I'd like to point out that of all the cars on that list, the xB has the smallest CO2 emissions....thank you very much.

I don't mean any personal offense to you, but I actually wish my xB produced more CO2, simply to ____ off idiotic environmentalists who are convinced it is a problem.

Don't worry Bigfieroman, there are plenty of ways to ____ off environmentalists. Start by asking for plastic bags at the supermarket, potitically correct San Francisco just recently outlawed them.

You know, it's funny...I am actually very opposed to unnecessary waste; SUVs not used offroad, turning out lights, etc, but it was when environmentalism transcended from a cause to something of a religion that I grew to hate it. Specifically, the use of outright lies to further a cause, even a good one, is what I hate. I once almost got suspended at my college for provoking a group of environmentalists (led by a professor).

I don't mind when advocates understand what the positions are, but I was in college 25 years ago, and I was amazed by the # of people that supported causes that they knew nothing about, just to jump on the bandwagon. Apartheid comes to mind, which was terrible, but the vast majority of people I spoke to who were "against it" had no idea what it even was.

Boy, talk about getting off topic; so sorry.

The eight 2008 Motortrend COTY finalists. Why'd they have to hide the xB in the back?

look @ that pic and see the red caddy to the upper left - I'm guessing that's the winner. U don't suppose some car companies were solicited for $$$ for placement, do you?

Oh no 808-213-503, that could never happen in the unbiased world of automotive journalism.

Anyone else notice this other mistake in the article?

XB version 1.0 was a happy little buzz bomb, feathery enough for even its puny 1.6-liter

They really need to check their facts over there at MT!
