Default Needed:Calipers

Ok...I need to get my hands on some used calipers. I need all four!! I'm planning on getting them powder coated but I can't be with out a car for a week.

Does anyone know if the calipers are the same as any other Toyota cars? Possibly the Corolla?

TIA!

you should just spray the caliper while it's on the car. taking calipers off and on takes much time as spraying the caliper.

YOu can brush paint them on the car. I thought of course buy a spare set at Junk yard maybe for a period of time while originals are painted. My thoughts. Or brush paint them of course over a weekeknd at home!

I dunno... I wouldn't powdercoat them. Getting them off would be easy, but then you'd have to get your brakes bled. I'm not sure how big of a PITA it would be, but I remember my 95 fullsize GMC I had to take to the dealer...

Just use the brush on paint if you HAVE to have a different color caliper.

If it spray it, it won't match the rest of the parts I'm getting coated....I don't want it to be half asssed.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll just have to wait till they release a *reasonably priced* big brake kit!

ok another thought here have dupli color white tinted to match other parts and brush on. Quality and appearance of this product is excellent and tinting white would match exactly....

The person doing the powdercoat should be able to match the tint exactly!

i used to do powdercoating and love the final product. i've noticed that with the translucent colors that brake fluid (along with brake cleaner) WILL eat through it... worse than on regular paint. i'm not sure of solid colors. either way, just be careful if you go that route not to get fluid on them. also, ask the place doing the work if they remove the pistons and install a plug or high temp tape over that hole, along with the fluid port and anything else that threads or goes into the caliper. removing PC after its been baked on is wicked hard... even small areas. as far as durability, PC is amazing. not sure of the caliper paints, which i will be using when it gets a bit warmer.

Thanks for the heads up breadbox!

That's a good idea, rsw, for the time being. They should be able to match a candy color correct?
