this is what I installed (i went with 54" but 42" is also available- do not use the 60" because it's designed for camper shell's only)

http://www.yakima.com/Product.aspx?id=171

instructions included in the box or download from their site. Installation is easy. Track is 5" from the rear edge of the roof.

Thanks...I like it. I'm looking for a solution to carry surfboards and bikes.

It clears the shark-fin too!

It's hard to tell....did you mount the rails next to or actually on top of the channels on the roof?

Looks great! Is that a Yakima Steelhead or Copperhead? Do you recommend it? What kind of bike is that? I just got myself an old Cannondale road bike and need to pimp out my Yakima.

next to the channel- I intent to put it in the channel but not wide enough

it's a steelhead! I used the same rack system on my '98 Rav4 and to the day, no problem with it- so i'll say "well recommended!" I ride road too(Bianchi San Mateo)

here's my Rav4:

I didn't think twice putting them on. I don't want to use the clips because it can scratch your paint easily

I got an INNO rack from the dealer that clamps on above the windows. I keep it off most of the time but it works for light loads if you're scared to drill into your roof like I was.
