On my way home from work today (San Diego Hwy 94 eastbound from downtown) I saw a billboard for the new xB.

It looks like the billboard below, but the copy says CON: FUGLY on the left hand side and PRO: FUGLY on the right.



Scion seems to understand that xBers like to be different. I really want to drive one now!

 

I saw what you saw too negrito, but in San Fran. I'll take a picture of it too.. funny because fugly is a So-Cal term i thought, ..

 

I cannot believe they put 'fugly' on a billboard. Pics, pleeeeease.

Oh, and 'fugly' is universal, or so I thought. It certainly made it to the midwest.

Check inside front cover/page 1 of almost any tuner magazine---Import Tuner, Super Street, Sport Compact, etc---and I think you'll find pretty much the same ad, the PRO/CON spread.

Fugly is a good word. Not regional as far as I'm concerned.

 

I drove one tonight at Scion Backstage in Atlanta. It looks way better to me in person than in pictures. It drives really really nice. Gobs of power and very agile. I was surprised by its feel. Felt quite refined. If the real cars are as good as the prototypes we drove they will be fine cars indeed.

There's one in L.A. that is the same format but it has check boxes on both sides of the xB with the words "Hell Yes!" and "Hell No!" by them.

Pretty clever .

 

It does. It also means, er, ahem, "doable" but ugly.

And I've been saying it for 20 years, so it's not new, and aparrently isn't regional.

 

So what was the equivalent back when you were a teenager? Say around 1919?

 

Back then we were too busy walking 12 miles to school in the snow, uphill both ways mind you, to worry about fancy schmancy new terms.

 

I saw a billboard today and it had the xB but it was the red one w/ black wheels and it said Pro: boxy con: boxy. Oh yeah and I saw the 08 xB @ the Toyota Motor America Headquarters.
