Default newb here, with a new xB2

this past saturday i picked up an 08 xB with auto tranny (they had no manuals and i didnt want to wait any longer hah) ...

got it in silver, with no other options ...

at the moment i have an avid-D3X on the way for it ... along with the normal stuff like floor mats and such ...

still trying to decide what kind or color of rims will go well with silver ... and looking around for a decent exhaust setup ...

hopefully in a day or three will be getting the front windows tinted to match the back ones ...

i listened to the borla setup ... has a bit of a raspy sound to it at higher RPM's in the vids i found .. i prefer a more mellow sound ...

would go with the TRD ... but i don't like the oval tip ... would prefer a round tip ... dual or single outlet...

the local rim place is telling me 17*7 with a 215 45 tire ... which would have my speedo still reading near correct ...

but so far i have yet to find a rim style that i like ... i want one that is a solid dish .. but all of those that i find are for RWD setups ... and have a neg offset ...

if i can't find that .. i will settle for a 5 spoke or dual 5 spoke (10 spoke) setup with a decent lip on it ... just don't want anything like the old 205 40 17s that i had on my old car ... what a harsh ride that was.

First get a set of Tanabe NF210 springs for better ride (more compliant and better handling!) then step up your wheel/tire combo to 17x7.5 with 225/45-17 tires, or 18x7.5 with 225/40-18 tires or 18x8 with 225/40 or 235/40-18 tires.

See this spring write-up:

i am considering some springs .. but i don't even really want a 1" drop .. so may just have to go with a good set of coil-overs ...

got to many big bumps and such around me .. my last car was scraping its bumper all over the place .. and was only dropped 1" all around ...

thanks for the wheel sizes tho and tire size .. now to decide on a design.

This 235/40-18 would look great on some nice rims and an NF drop! Nice and even

If you dont want to go 1" then you can got TRD... I think its a 5/8 inch avg. drop in the front and a bit lower in the rear to level the car out a bit.

Im with Cionice on the NF210's. The ride quality is very close to stock but a much better driving experience

hmmm if the TRD ones are a less drop may consider them .. just found a pic of someone that has the TRD rear and stock front .. and it is about what i want ... so i may give that a try ...

what ever i end up doing will fill the rest of the wheel well up with the wheels and tires ... so it still has a decent look ... i just need the clearence .. and prefer the less harsh ride.

Going with 225/45-18 tires on 18" rims will give you about 1/2" more ground clearance than stock. It would also give you back 1/2" more sidewall as compared to 225/40-18 stock diameter tires, resulting in a less harsh ride, as well as filling out the gap in the wheelwells a bit more. I have the NF210 drop, and I'm planning on 225/45-18's whenever I finally make an 18" wheel decision.

If you're interested in this possibility, keep in mind that you will have to be careful with offset since the overall diameter is 1" more than stock.

Not a fan of Gunmetal with the silver xB huh; what wheel color/finish were you thinking of? Silver, black, chrome, hyper-black? Please say anything but bronze or gold against CSM.

either considering bronze ... or a hyper-black ...

99% of all my wheels in the past have been gunmetal / black ... and i want something different this time ...

about the only way i would do it again .. would be black rim with a red / blue lip ...

problem i am running into ... is that most colors don't look all that good with the color of mine ... at least i don't think so ... other then a silver / chrome ...

I urge you not to go bronze against silver unless it is really really dark bronze. Hyper-black looks great, I just haven't found a wheel design that I've said "THAT'S IT!" when I saw it.
