Default Next xB (xB3) poll: Camry 2.5L and 6 speed tranny?

Toyota Camry got a new 2.5L, 169-179hp engine upgrade (depends on trim level), with a 6 speed transmission. The next tC will be getting the same treatment, with a 180hp variant.

Do you think the next xB will get the Camry engine and transmission as well? If so, do you think the price will go up significantly?

If the 2.5L significantly helps gas mileage, then I think the xB could well adopt it, otherwise, I'd expect the 2.4L to stay. The xB doesn't need more power/torque, but given the U.S. is tightening fleet mpg standards, I think it all comes down to that. However, I wouldn't expect a change before 2012 or so regardless of reasons. Definitely no change for the 2011.

Well, the 6 speed transmission is what would help the mpg. IF the 2.5L was direct injection, that would help with mpg, but it's not. At least, not yet.

I dont think its getting it for this generation. All the articles I keep reading say the 2.4 is what the 11s gets. If they do get it, I am praying the 6 speed is compatible so I can do a swap on mine.

Personally I wish they'd bring back the 2zz vvtl-i motor and put that in the xb (and it loose a few pounds). I know they have no torque what so ever, but they are so much more fun to drive.
