Do painted hubs count as a mod?

Maybe its just me, but I dont understand the idea of putting in such big speakers that youre left with no more storage space.

Honestly, you shouldnt have a scion if you dont understand. Havent you heard of Customization? lol

Im customizing mine for more capability not less. Unless you consider outrageously big stereo system a capability. I am trying to find ways to increase storage inside. Heck i want to raise mine a few inches for more ground clearence rather than lower it like everyone else.

Now I don't feel so weird thinking I was the only one who wanted more ground clearance and storage I found it a little odd that the Corolla has a higher ground clearance........but still it's really nice looking at these mods.

cus·tom·ize /ˈkʌstəˌmaɪz/ Pronunciation[kuhs-tuh-mahyz]
–verb (used with object) -ized, -iz·ing.
to modify or build according to individual or personal specifications or preference

hmmm..its a good thing it doesnt say "only the way eyeeatingfish wants to do". i dropped mine so i could have better handling on these texas highways. i dont need any extra clearance, for the simple reason i dont see myself going off road anytime soon. and frankly if i wanted a vehical with more space...i would have gotten a conversion van (whoop whoop for the mark III) . increase storage inside? i have no clue what i would need to fit in my xb that i already cant fit? an xa? tied up teenage girls? atv? do i want a raging system in my trunk to where i have no little room? no thanks. not my style. would i love some bump in my trunk though? of course. even if it will take up a bit of space. i still have a back seat. would that make my vehical less capable than yours? probably not. putting into account what im using my car for is different than what youre using your car for.

scions are made for people who want to stick out.
that is one of toyotas selling points.
if your idea of sticking out is to lift you xb and make more room...and my idea is to drop it for more agile handling...and someone elses is to fill up the trunk with as many speakers and woofers known to man...well then...so be it. i dont need their explaination. i already understand ...thats just how it is. that is just how their ride is customized.

To each his own of course, i just dont understand the appeal of massive speakers. I like quality sound and all but i also like my hearing.

Well my first thoughts have been the big side walls in the rear area. Rather than add in the holders that are expensive i could just make my own net or cut out the size i want to make more pillar storage. I am also looking to modify the storage space under the rear seats. I want to put in some steel and make a locking case under one half of the seat. Im not sure how much more room could be gained by removing the plastic piece though.

Ha! I was just thinking that same thing. Once you've got those massive speaker cabinets installed, you pretty much never can use the cargo area for cargo again. Well, to each his own.

This is more of the kind of mod that would interest me...
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...=hawaiis+cargo

Except that what I would do differently is instead of leaving the rear seat cushion in there and wasting all that space, I'd take out the rear seat cushion and make that area under the front part of the platform into a big storage area with hinged access doors.

As for ground clearance, I'd put on taller 205/65/16 tires. That would increase ride height and improve ride quality and slightly drop the RPMs for better MPG and quieter freeway cruising.

So yeah, I'm probably the only person in the world who is interested in going higher profile than stock on the tires. :D

In the interest of saving you and anyone else considering something like this, be advised that the area under the back seat is pretty much "what you see is what you get".

If you pull out the back seat bottom and remove the frame and plastic tray, you will find the floor is pretty much exactly contoured to the plastic piece. About all you could gain is if you were going to install a door you could lose the lip on the front of the plastic tray. It seems that would be fairly hard to pull off with it looking good since that area is very visible. It sort of sticks out from the seat cushion.

Anyway hope that helps somebody considering a mod to that area.

Default Debaged MOd!!

So i was bored this afternoon and decided to debadge the xB. Process took about 15-20 max. Looks clean now.

Tools used: Hair blow dryer, floss (preferrably fishinglines though), goof off spray, fibercotton wipe.

Any comments are welcomed.

Thanks jimmbomb!

I did green because I already had the LEDs and wanted to see how it looked so I could decide what color to go with. I've actually grown used to the dual colors.

I have a post in the wheels section discussing making the Xb at least partially offroad worthy. Mainly better tires and increased ride height.
