Default Pure pricing on the extended warranty?

Bought my white xB yesterday from Frontier Scion. F & I guy made a point of telling me that Toyota only offered pure pricing and only offered the Platinum Warranty for the xB and gave me a few choices. Is there really such a thing as pure pricing on the warranty and can I only get the Platinum version? I read a post someone got 3yr 100000 warranty for cheap and I was told at the dealer they only had 6 or 7 year warranty for 100000 mile coverage and it cost me just under 1200. Was I ripped off/ lied to?

Sounds like BS... to my knowledge, the pure pricing is only for the vehicle.

Read the fine print. As far as I know Toyota only offers 3 warranties, a 3, 6 and 7 year. Individual dealerships can offer you in-house warranties or sell thrid party warranties. Think of how often you travel and if you would need to use this waranty in another dealership that the one you purchased one, etc. There are a few folks that work at dealerships here on the board they mey be able to help you, also run a search as I think this has been discussed before.
Good luck!

Ok warranty is pure price on the warranty. You do however have more than one warranty option. At least at the dealer I work at we offer more than one warranty option. Sounds a little fishy to me. Gusee thats why people get on the defense when coming onto a dealership lot.

You are right--there was a post from someone who got the Toyota warranty for a lot less. They sold it to people who did not buy their car from that dealer as well. When I bought mine they told me that their dealership only offered the platinum. In other words--each dealer takes their own direction.

Buying anything less than the platinum warranty is completely absurd with Toyota. For $200 more than silver warranty you cover 1000's of more parts. Buying anything less than zero deductable is completely bonkers too, as the difference in price between zero deductable and the deductable warranty is roughly equal to the deductable.

1200 bucks for a 7yr 100k mile warranty that covers practically the entire car and you have to ask if you got jipped? Are you mad? Tell you what, why don't you call down to the Chevy Dealer and ask them what the same coverage would be on an Aveo? The one in my town is >$2500. For my F-150 I paid $1500 for a powertrain warranty to 75k mi because ford doesn't have a standard powertrain warr. 1200 bucks to cover the whole car is a frickin bargain.

3rd party warranties aren't worth the paper they are printed on. many financial institutions offer very cheap "insurance" style warranties. These are "great". You go have your car fixed, pay the money out of pocket, and then hope and pray that you'll get at least a partial refund for a supposedly covered part.

2008Xb, scionofPCFL, would you folks mind posting up the warranties (basic details don't want you guys typing an entire policy up lol) that Toyota corporate offers at any dealership please?
By the way, thank you to both of you for being helpful.

Example:
3 year - $xxxx - xxx,xxx miles - basic/full/rental/etc

Thanks again!

Ok this is what our dealership offers as faras pure price scion warranties;

1. Platumin
2. Gold
3. Powertrain

3years 50,000 miles
5years 60,000 miles
6years 75,000 miles
6years 100,000 miles
7years 75,000 miles
7years 100,000 miles

These are all toyota warranties and are all pure priced they are on a laminated sheet and priced clearly for the customer to look at and to choose which one will fit their driving habits . No since buying a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty if you drive over 100,000 in 51/2 years you would want the 6 year 100,000 mile warranty. Hope this helps you guys out.

Let me put it to you this way, the cheapest warr we have is $580. That's a 5/60 Platinum w/ a $100 ded. The zero deductable is $690. See what I mean, no point in the cheaper one. Moving up to the 6/72k, next in line is the Silver pkg with $100 ded, $638, zero ded being $748. For the same time period coverage on a Platinum zero deductable, it's only $974. 1206 is the most expensive Scion warr we offer, and that's Platinum zero deductable. Consider it a ~$20/month insurance policy for the mechanics of your car.

But if you're like me, and the black cloud of Murphy follows you everywhere, you'll pay the 20/month simply to not have a problem [/table]

Thanks folks.
So the Platinum 7yr 100k mile warranty is $1206 right?
I think that works out to less than $14.50 a month, or your XM subscription ;) unless we have taxes added to the warranty then it's (for me at 6.5%) 1284.39 / 72 = 17.84 monthly.
