Default Question about dealership window tinting

I ordered my XB BSP but I also got a window tint option for 299 dollars. I was reading that there is standard window tinting already so am I getting taken? Anyway, any help from others or perhaps people who work at a dealership would be much appreciated. I am suppose to be able to pick up my XB on Thursday, pretty excited.

The only indows that come un-tinted are the windshield (obviously) and the two front windows. $299 seems like a little much. i am getting mine done after i get it from the dealer.

Take it to a shop, you will pay less than $100 for the two windows.

That's a rip off.

I agree, you can get it done locally alot cheaper, no matter where you live.

I already ordered it, I guess I can call back and see if they have done it yet. I kind of went over board with the customizing. I also dropped 1400 on the sunroof but I did not buy the panoramic sunroof. I figured I was going to keep this car for as long as it runs so I put the money down up front to get everything I wanted.

The rear windshield and back two come tinted, so I guess they are charging you to tint the front two side windows. My dealer threw the tinting of those two windows in free without my even asking...they seem to do that a lot, they did that to my mom's new Corolla, too. (It is a Toyota/Scion dealership). It's Kendall Scion.

Nope, I am getting hosed for 2 windows being tinted for 299 cause the rest of the windows are already tinted. I should have definitely paid more attention to but I just assumed it was a good price, stupid me. We'll see, I will get my car Wednesday or Thursday and list everything with it and post pics, get a little poll going but I do know I paid premium prices cause I went through the dealer.

You haven't taken delivery of the vehicle. Don't buy it with the tinted windows. Some dealers wait for people to take delivery and then add the overprice options like tinting. They may tell you that you have to wait for another vehicle w/o tinting but it's better to wait than get hosed. Or go to another dealership.

Default tint vs NAV unit

If you have Scion Nav installed read your owners manual before titning windows up front.

QFT. Depending on the placement of the receiver, any tint film thats lower grade has a good chance at disrupting reception.

If you go to a quality (not car toys) shop they will have a carbon-based film that not only prevents signal blocking of your radio, GPS, and cell phone, but also wont give you that slight rainbow effect with sunglasses that are polarized, or a cloudy look in extremly bright light.

The dealer tinted all of my windows.

Privacy glass doesn't block out UV rays or heat.

I think the sides are 50% and the rear tinted glass got retinted at 20%.
