Default recent pricing question

I bought my wife a Sienna in the fall at a dealership 60 miles away where they had an awesome deal. They also were a lot more professional then the big city dealers.

Now its time to buy my car, an XB. Where is the incentive to go out of town to but it if there is one set price ?

Are dealers allowed to thrown in free or discounted options on top of the set price ? I sent an email today to the far away dealer and a local one.

What is the incentive to buy from one over the other ? With Toyota its very obvious, here its very cloudy.

With our current ression and car sales in the ditch, there must be something we can get out of Scion Dealers to separate one from another.

Has anybody received any special treatment from one dealer over another ?

We waited this long so we could see the RS first. Now that we have seen it, we are going with a Teal Auto with around 1000-1500 dollars in upgrades.

Thanks,

By the way I live in Austin and bought the Scion in Killeen.
Just looked at a San Antonio Website and they show:

All Scions priced $500 below MSRP!

but, the prices in their inventory online match Killeen/Austin so how could they say they are 500 below MSRP

I wanted blue with the stock radio, but all they had was blue with the premium radio. When I started to leave they knocked $250 off the price.

First thing this morning I received a response from the dealer that claimed 500 under MSRP. She gave me a quote for my items that matched what is on scion.com and then took 500 dollars off it and asked me if she should get the car ready. They also provide lifetime oil changes; however, 100 miles to drive for a free oil change is pushing it then again I could get it changed while visiting family.

Latest update for those interested in pricing options.

Local dealer in Austin. MSRP
Dealer in San Antonio, MSRP-500
Dealer in Killeen, MSRP-400

Based on that:
1) buy 10 miles from work at MSRP
2) drive 60 miles north to save 400 but from dealer where we had a good experience with Sienna in the fall
3) drive 100 miles south to save 500. 2 miles from my Mom's house.

How can they offer different prices ?
I think the way it works in pure pricing is that the price is set but can be set to whatever the dealer chooses as long as they advertise one price for all customers. Is that correct ? Does that mean that the -400 can not match the -500 ?

yeah with the pure pricing its hard to find any real difference between dealers.

for me i got two scion keychains and they mailed me a free oil change coupon. i probably would have gotten something similar at another dealer...

I talked to all three dealers and once they set their pure price they can not haggle on it. What my experience has shown is that they can set in stone different pure prices so it is still good to check around.

In my case, three dealers, three different "pure price" prices. MSRP, MSRP-400, MSRP-500

Case 1: big city
Case 2: small city to compete with big cities
Case 3: big city dealer wanting to push lots of cars

They messed up on my leasing plan. So I ended up leasing the car for $1000 under what we had originally agreed on. Dumbass mistake on their part. They also threw in mats, no dealer fees and the premium head unit.

Of course my dumbass broke one of the floor mats trying to beat the dirt out of it. Stupid.
