Default Remote start

I dont know if i should post here but...

I currently have a Viper 5902 on my XB. I love it. But i dont like the bulky remote. I rather have the factory key as the remote and be able to start it from there. so my question is...

Does anyone recommend the factory remote engine start? (PT398-52080)

I WAS TOLD IT STARTS TEH XB BUT WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR IT TRUNS OFF. can that be verified by someone?

I'll take off this Viper in a heart beat. I kinda like OEM anyhow.

thanks for the help

Don't have personal experience with the Remote Start, but I understand that's true. It's intended as a security measure so some Yahoo can't get in your car and simply drive off with it.

I installed the Scion Security accessory and it works well IMO -- nicely integrated into the car.

Pulling the viper tonight, i ordered the VIP OEM alarm, remote start, and auto dimming mirror. i was doing some reading on the instructions and the remote start added wire harness is also used with the VIP alarm. perfect! cant wait till the 6th when it ships out.

they have an App for iPhone and Android and an appon for the viper that will allow you to stop carrying the bulky remote (keeping it only as a backup). you may want to look into the "Python System". that works with the Viper...

your talking about the smart start, you can buy it for viper too. dei owns viper and python... when it comes down to it they are the exact same thing basically.

and oem remote start system sucks! i installed one for a girl locally with a xb and to keep it from shutting off when you get in.

unlock the car, remote start it, relock it and then when your ready to get in unlock it.

ill keep my 5901 thank you. plus the oem system isnt a alarm and its not 2 way paging.

I had a buddy who had the factory alarm and his car got broke into and he alarm did nothing. I will keep my 5901 with remote start plus the remote is not really that big.

Well I installed the remote start and at the same time the Security system as well. Yes it does suck not being able to keep the Xb running. but its not too bad. during the install of the security there is a module installed in the lower right center counsel that allows you to adjust sensitivity. and in the instructions to check the glass break is to tap the center of the drivers window from outside with the tip of your key. if nothing sounds then you need to adjust the sensitivity. works like a charm. i like that it auto locks and arms its self.

you need to remove dash panels and the glove. to me it was not too bad. came with many zip ties so its secured. the hardest thing i had to do was reach my arm all the way up behind the steering wheel to unplug a connector.
