Default Roof indentions, Welds showing thru? Not hail damage

I washed and waxed my xB this weekend and found some paint imperfections?

I found Sunk-in indentions along roof from front to back. looks like hail damage type dents, but car hasn't been in a hail storm. ?

Is this on all xB's, looks like maybe welds under the roof that have sunk in?

The indentiuons are located between the rear door and front doors on roof about 4 inches from the door of the roof towards the inside of the roof.

They are located on both sides of the car's roof? Is this a manufacturers defect?

Check your roofs..

Thanks

yep I got them too. noticed them the other day while washing. both sides, evenly spaced.....if they start to really get to you, you may be looking at taking it to a shop and having some filler and paint put into it. me...I'll just ignore it

I just did a complete detail of my new HTM xB and I didn't find anything. I would suggest taking that ish to the dealer. Thanks for the heads up and I hope everything works out.

WTF??????? I never noticed that on my car. I no longer own it but last time I washed and dried it there were no marks in the roof like that. You should definitely show it to the dealership. Could be some type of defect. Would really ____ me off.

At least I'm not the only one with them..That's what I was wondering..You don't see them that bad.

I'll try to take some pics, but I don't think they will show up. You can probably see them better on darker colors, than lighter ones.

I'll show it to my dealer the next time I'm by there.

you know, I have some random little dents on my 06 xB too. One is along the top of the drive window on the side piece. and the other is on the left fender right above the tire. Nothing that i know of has hit my car. :o

Took the car to my dealer yesterday, Showed the indentions to my Service Advisor, He saw them and said they will check it out and fix them.

Great bunch of folks at Denny Heckers Toyota/Scion of Inver Grove Heights, MN,
located close by to Minneapolis, MN.

So have they said anything else besides "we'll fix it"? Any speculation as to cause (weak welds, thin metal flexing too much, design flaw)? Doesen't sound good if you ask me. May eventually show up on many more vehicles, i.e.: metal fatigue, which could mean MAJORLY REPAIRS!!!!!!!! Possibly hard to repair so that it looks flawless and as new.

A few pieces of info would help identify this problem:

What year is the xB with problem?
How many miles are on the car?

I'm not to worrried. It's on the roof, shouldn't stand out. Haven't heard back from the Service Advisor yet. I'lll check with him today..

It is a 08 xB Black Sand Pearl with 335 miles.

Anyone able to take pics at all? I've looked at the roof of my HTM with 750 miles (purchased on 6/29) and see nothing at all out of the ordinary. I've washed it thoroughly twice so far.

Make sure the roof is very clean, try using some "Speed Detailer" on each side part of the roof from front to back. Stand beside front doors looking towards the back of the roof and look at where the crown of the roof slopes down into the outside edge of the roof. Area to look at is about 3- 4 inches from the outside edge of the roof. Try lookng at different angles and in the shade or sun.

My service advisor said they got the indentions out today, without having to repaint. He said he will see what they did to fix them and get back to me.

My dealer took the indentions out, I can't see them anymore. Didn't cost me anything. The Body shop guy did ask me if I tried to install a roof rack, I said "NO".

Service advisor was off yesterday when I picked the car up, I'll try to call him today.

Default Metal

I think that the sheet Metal used on the scion is not the best.......Even when I slam the door it really does'nt sound solid.......I guess it must be a thin grade
