Default RS 5.0 paint problems?

So my family's RS 5.0 xB has lot of chips already, and it's only an 08. I was curious if there is any problems specific to the RS 5.0 and paint, since I do see a lot for sale plus the case of our car. I mean, i know scion's paint chips easily, but this just seems a bit odd.

Thanks for your opinions and help in advance,

~Murphy

I doubt the paint has anything to do with the chips.

The chips most likely are due to the fact that the XB is just not that aerodynamic of a car. My 2010 has a few chips in it already. Sad fact of life with this car.

Actually the paint is very thin and does chip quite easily. My '08 CSM's front end looked worse after just the first 2 months and 5k miles of freeway driving than my '94 Buick Century did after 10 years and 140k miles.

It also doesn't help that the xB has the aerodynamics of a snow plow.

I always hear complaints about how thin the paint is. You guys realize the thicker the paint, the deeper the chip, right?

Regardless, it is low quality paint and is prone to chipping on a boxy car.

I got over it, I like to drive and chipping is just natural. You could install a clear bra, find a vinyl or leather bra, or keep it in the garage.

Like I told my Wife, "driving to close to the car in front of you" @ freeway speeds.

the paint is crap, i own 2 08 xB's and the chip is so thin its unreal.
I recently spent 20 mins just touching up all the chips on my RS 5.0
I also looked at the paint on one of my coworkers Buick that he slammed into someone with.
the paint is THICK and doesn't have too many chips in it.
A lot of people say its because the front of the car is box shaped, but I am calling bull____ on that.
Look at any truck that is fairly new, and the paint is probably near perfect.
Scion paint = BIG ____ING FAIL.

I had a '74 Chevy C10 and the only part I remember getting chips was the very short riser at the front of the hood, most of the front was grill. My xB has much more vertical riser on the hood and the bumper fascia itself is painted. I think the main reason for paint chips is a combination of plenty of vertical painted surface plus following distance from other vehicles (cars as well as trucks -- even a bicycle tire can spit a stone).
